This is what improper training does to your voice. If you listen very closely, her screams are not even. She's using her throat instead of using head voice. Screams are produced a lot like how sopranos hit high notes. You have to lift your soft palette, a small muscle at the back of your throat, and release the sound while cushioning the vibration and pressure through your nasal passage and out through your nose. And the volume, projection comes from deep within your lungs, using youd abdominal muscles to push it out. Gotta center yourself to the ground. That way your throat and vocal chords are just the speakers that produce the volume. But she doesn't appear to have any of that training in the first two seasons. She gets better towards the later seasons but screaming on command with consistency requires intensive training. Also, my credible source is being a scare actor who specializes in screaming and voice manipulation.

Her powers and banshee background are explained chonologically and some-what thoroughly enough to be able to understand her abilities, but leaving room for mystery and more development.

I was scared that she would be left behind in character development since she didn't have claws or fangs, but they did her really really good!! Kat sound can move and break things. When you see opera singers sing so high the it breaks glass, it’s similar to the banshee scream. It’s so high and loud and strong that it moves objects, peoples and can break things. She uses her hands as a sort of cup. When you speak into a cone or something similar,r, it makes your voice louder in that specific space/direction and it keeps the sound from going in all directions. So, Lydia is using her hands as an object to control the space her voice moves in.
