Another fantastic trip down history lane. Your childhood must of been filled with many a adventure living in these surroundings.

And how!! Had a mother that put up with allot!! Imagine a 10 year old buying a car!!!!
@PeterCPRail87488 жыл бұрын
Different times back then, the fact that you could was fantastic. Today it would never happen. Evan my childhood for someone in his late 30s was more lax then youth today. To much bubble wrapping, we need to let kids explore more and get into innocent non harmful mischief. I could only wish I could of bought a car at that age.

Toy Man Television Please try and visit the East Broad Top Railroad it closed back in 2011 but everything is still there.. 6 beautiful Mikado's the workshops are as they was the line closed nothing has been touched really apart from a few buildings that the Friends Of The East Broad Top (A Volunteer group) are repairing. it was one of the first heritage railroads in the USA and is hoped will reopen in the future. They are doing tours of the roundhouse etc on July 30th! I really think you should do a video on this amazing RR! Message them on there facebook page to arrange to be part of the tour. facebook.com/ebtrr/?fref=ts

Hi. Old railroads and the history are a fun way to spend a day. In Portugal you have so much history! And it must be fun to explore that. Here most of the history is only about 150 years, other than the natives. Who didn't have much going on here either. So, it's mostly "modern" history, but FUN!!!

Someday I'll bet they dig it up in search of cans and plastic! Cost 3 million to recover $1 worth of recycle.

+Toy Man Television: I've often wondered if archaeological digs actually penetrate the village dump. That's why they find so many pottery shards. They break a pot, toss it and make a new one.

I haven't had the chance to see the rest of this series yet, but would this railroad you've been following happen to have gone anywhere through the Centerville/Bountiful area? a friend of mine found an abandoned grade with ties slightly buried and it also appears to be narrow gauge, we haven't had the chance to explore it in depth yet though, also, I'd definitely love to see an episode covering those mine tunnels
@ToyManTelevision8 жыл бұрын
Up there it may be the Salt Lake and Ogden, or ?? John Young had a hand in almost all the Utah railroads, even the UP. As Brigham Young's oldest son, he was Brighams "railroad builder". His personal railroads were fun small little things, but he worked with man of the railroads as a connection between Brigham (the church) and the railroads. I need to digitize my mine video. Would mak a fun show!
@sgtwylde19968 жыл бұрын
+Toy Man Television interesting, that makes sense and sort of does seem to bring to the foreground that whole railroad monopoly thing
@ToyManTelevision8 жыл бұрын
History. I'm more interested in the fact that highways were at first private. Then taken over by the government. And how this compared to the railroad system. A debate that still needs to be on our minds. What is the place of government? VS corporate. As important in 2016 as ever.

So much so! My mom was fine with my friends and I going into "the gully" alone after we were about 8 years old. Kids today don't often have that freedom, but until resent history, all kids did this sort of exploring. A great loss to our society. We need to give this back to the kids. It's a great gift for them.

+Toy Man Television: It's the San Diego Arizona & Eastern. Originally built/financed by John D. Speckles (of sugar fame), the idea was to make the Eastern markets "closer". At the time, SP had to go up the coast through L.A., up the Cajon Pass to Barstow, then get track rights from the Union Pacific to head east. The plan was to head across the Sonoran Desert, dipping into Mexico a time or two, and end up in Yuma and rails east. The San Diego Railroad Museum in Campo is along the old route, East of San Diego. The museum used to have a dinner train down into Mexico to Tecate (I think). They'd tie up in the town and the riders could roam the shops and buy locally made articles. They also had a wine and cheese train.They had a variety of wines from the Temecula Valley, about 100 miles north. And all kinds of cheese. I don't know if they still make the runs down into Mexico. KZbin has a plethora of videos including a history. Mr. Spreckles had the outdoor organ built in Balboa Park.

I get the runs in Mexico. I really get it. WOW need to get back down there. In the winter. So it's only 102. I was on the Plaster Ciity line years ago. With Dan's steam engine!! HOT!!!!!
@tom76018 жыл бұрын
+Toy Man Television yeah, it can get hotter then a pistol out there (I'm talking like my dad😀). I grew up in Blythe; not only was it in the 110-120° range, it could get down to 28° or so in the winter. My brother and I had to go around to all the cattle water tanks and make sure they weren't iced over.
