It’s interesting you mention Benjamin’s storytelling essay as I think this week another Han translation about storytelling vs narration, called The Crisis of Narration was released. Looking forward to your take on it.

Quite interesting to see how Han's book titles appear earlier as chapter titles. For example, the final chapter in The Scent of Time is titled Vita Contemplativa. It's not exactly that he further develops the chapters into books, but that he places the centre (or the central issue) differently in different books.

Great piece of video. I enjoyed your take on this subject. You might want to read The Secret Pulse of Time. It has some overlapping with this read but the author looks at the effect of our perception of time on how we feel.

The idea of the atomization of time, its reduction to point instants, the cinematographic metaphor, comes from Bergson. The other event of 1927 was the awarding of the Nobel prize for Literature to Bergson. Proust was Bergson’s best man at his wedding to Louise Neuberger a cousin of Proust’s.

@@DavoodGozli I've started to read this and my goodness, you explained it so clearly! I read a sample for The Agony of Eros and I think that might have been an easier introduction to Han 😆, but I'll persevere! I'm having to reread passages less often than when I started Chapter 1. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for taking the time to process the concepts /arguments he's referenced for our consideration.

That's a significant theme in the book - to be in contact with nature (and our natural selves) we have to mind our pace. Hope you're doing well
