I run it with a mostly secondary build with Al Bismarck. 16 second reload with 11.1km secondary. A lot of fun

If you want memes, run AL Scharnhorst with AL Colorado/Paolo Di Revel. Should be around a 14 second reload. Still PISSED that you have to gamble for this thing

Got it with my second crate last night. Also got the Ultimate Arsonist Achievement with this ship for taking away over 50% of an enemy ship's health with fire damage (and that was totally with secondaries).

Nice match, nice push. I think the last thing we needed in the game though was a another T7 German BB. Also, Haida, Queen Mary, and Scharny 43 all being uptiered after being ported over is a weird trend.

I believe Scharnhorst '43 has the standard fuse timer on the AP shells, as compared to the short-fuse on the regular Scharnhorst (.033 vs .01 sec respectively)

Yes - that’s true. She has a slightly better chance of citadels on enemy battleships - but Less chance of (not) Overpenning Cruiser targets

I suppose the question is why would you choose Scharnhorst 43 over the Odin? I bought 5 crates and got this ship. I have only 1 game in it so far, built for secondaries and had a very mid game but not really a dependable sample size.

I don’t know. Scharnhorst is real and the Odin is more of a what if? Odin has larger guns. Also has torps. I’m not sure you can build Odín for secondaries the way you can with this. But frankly the only way to get Scharnhorst 43 seems to be buying crates, and I don’t really recommend doing that on a 5% drop chance anyway.

Thanks for the Review, Lord Xarkun ! Hope my Forum writeup was helpful / interesting to you, too 🙂 Base Scharn only gets 5-km Standard sec range, which only tops out at 7.9 km with the ‘full setup’. I’ve scored 2 Krakens in my 5 or 6 matches with 43’ yesterday - just beautiful 🤩. === The FULL 1/4 Penning secondaries are what’s truly special, since the Legends Devs have infamously kept 99% of our German 105’s Nerfed to just 1/5 (21mm) except for Roon / FDG. So to FINALLY get them penning 26mm on Scharn-43, like they always do on PC Wows all this time…. Well, we can see how incredible a change that makes here !

@@Xarkun Very kind of you 😊 I speculated could this be a ‘testing’ of sorts, by The Legends Devs, to possibly roll out / un-nerf the 105ms fully (1/4 pen to all of them, throughout the German fleet) ? Also, if you get a chance to ask Princeblip & Friends, can we get some clarification on the 16mm Superstructure ? I speculated in the overview post that it might simply have been an artifact of their uptiering her here, and they simply forgot to grant the usual 19mm Superstructure for T-7+ BB’s. I hope they can explain yay / nay on that part.

What's the point of the Scharnhorst 43' with the Odin or BA Tirpitz or Brandenburg? It still has the same weak guns, no armor improvements vs. the T6, worse AA, and no increase in health. The BA Tirpitz got longer secondaries & faster torpedo reload & longer range of 11km. Only now the T6 Scharnhorst faces T8 monsters who will absolutely destroy this ship. Took it toe to toe vs. a Michaelangelo & got smoked. Got smoked by its poor AA the next match by a CV who knew the 43' is a weak AA ship, then got smoked by an Agir. The 43' is not ready to brawl with T8 ships!

It’s armor is nearly the same / better in one respect than the Siegfried, which also has been facing T-8 Monsters all this time 😉 I’ve scored 2 Krakens with mine, in 7 matches (100,000+ damage in most of them, even the losses)… agree on weak AA but that’s true of many ships at high Tier. Not everyone can be a Kansas / Rochester, etc - and even THEY can still get bullied by carriers some matches. It has more HP than the T-6 version (not too far below Bismarck’s total / and higher than Brandenburg by 5000-6000, iirc). It matches BA Tirpitz’s 11-km secondary range (with a full build)… and has full 1/4 pen HE on its 105mm secondary guns - with enormous Fire % Chances (8% for the 105’s and an enormous 12% for the big 150’s)… plus much faster Base reload times on them compared to other German brawlers of the Tier.

I like the Scharnhorst very much and it's disappointing, but not remotely surprising that Wargaming made this a Gambler's Ship...I'd love to have the Scharnhorst '43 but I'm not going to spend my money trying to chase after it...I'll buy a crate or two and if I don't get it, then I don't get it... What Wargaming should've done (and they stopped doing since mid '21) is put the Scharnhorst '43 in the Bureau as a special Halloween Project...maybe 8-10 segments at the most...something similar to what they did with the California & Oklahoma. Or....perhaps allowed those who already own the Tier VI Scharnhorst access to it through either a missions or bureau concept. So I can agree with some below that it's shitty on Wargaming's part to hide this ship behind a Gambler's Pay Wall, but again, not surprised at all. After the way they chose to handle the Jolly Roger Flag, probably the most requested flag in the game, nothing surprises me from them anymore. Imagine if a company chose to be just a little bit nicer, and just a little bit more appreciative to their customers...what a difference that would make with public perceptions and maybe, just maybe improve retention. I think Xarkun, as usual, did a nice overall presentation of this ship and I think it would be something I'd enjoy but at least I have the Tier VI version which is an effective close-range brawling German battlecruiser.

Got it on my 1st (and only) Halloween 24' crate opening (The 'so sorry' free crate that all players can get in the store as a result of WG's extended server maintenance). WG trying to bribe me to stfu about the game's shortcomings lmao. Wouldn't recommend gambling for it. If you want a Scharnhorst, just get the regular one from the store.

I have it and don't think it warrants much. Fun ship that's forsure. With that said, why play it when there is so many other that do better. It's not the best secondary, some of the worst bb guns, no sonar. Fun ship though.

I’ve had nothing but success in this ship so far it’s extremely consistent and probably one of the best ships to brawl with at the tier hell I got my first kraken in it my 3rd match with the ship

@@Zulu-charlie99 I’m not saying your incorrect but it has extremely good penetration values for 283s but I feel it’s more consistent than Brandenburg and from every match I’ve played the scharnhorst 43’s secondaries feel more accurate and the main battery while not the best in terms of alpha strike seem to be more consistent in terms of sigma and main battery with jaujard as a inspiration doesn’t seem that bad I got a wild citadel at 4km on a Bismarck it’s blind luck but for 11” guns they definitely have good penetration

I already have normal Scharny and Odin so I don't see a reason to gamble for this since I hate secondary builds due to the fact that they significantly reduce how much rewards you are gonna earn for the battle and otherwise both of the ships an mentioned do basically the same thing as this ship.

Your logic is slightly flawed, though. Imagine two ships - one has 5 km secondary range and the other has 10. In a battle, the 5-km one never scores any secondary hits but gets 50,000 damage with main guns. The ship with 10-km secondary range also gets 50,000 with main guns, PLUS 15,000 with its secondary guns. === Guess what ? The ship that did 65,000 will end up with more total endgame XP than the 50,000 damage (main guns only) one. It’s not like you suffer a Penalty to earnings due to secondary hits / damage 😅… it just rewards less to you than if you had done that Same portion of damage with main guns. But you DO still get a small reward for them (and you are still hurting the enemy team more - which can lead to more overall victories).

You have some strange notion that their Main Guns are all useless and do virtually no damage to enemies in battle 😅. If you are setting up some artificial scenario in your mind in which a full Accuracy Bismarck sits at 15 km and comparing that to a Brawl Bismarck also at 15 km… then of course, the Main Gun accuracy one will hit more / do more damage. What I’m talking about is - assume both of them are 10-km from an enemy - begin firing at them… the Bismarck that is ALSO getting thousands of points of additional damage from its secondary shell hits + fires they may cause + Main Gun AP hits is going to Wildly outdamage the Bismarck who has zero secondary guns firing because his range for them is too low, and all he’s got is his Mains (every 20-25 seconds, typically).

Disagree - or, it’s at least a Sidegrade. The fact the Legends Devs finally let a T-7 German ship get its Full 1/4 Pen HE is a tremendous edge over the B-Burg / Zeiten / Bismarck etc - as they’ve all been nerfed to 1/5 Pen adjust (21mm) all these years 😂 So… that’s huge for Scharn, AND you also get massive Fire % increases per shell on Scharn 43’s battery - compared to the other / standard numbers on other Germans.

Brandenburg is slower and less tanky because it’s a Bismarck hull which means it eats a lot of damage and gets bullied. Zeitan is a battle cruiser and has worse armor.
