‘The scheme is in a mess’: ‘Disastrous’ NDIS costing Australia ‘a bomb’

Sky News host Danica De Giorgio says the NDIS scheme is a mess and it’s costing Australia “a bomb”.
“Now to the National Disability Insurance Scheme - the most bungled, disastrous scheme in this country right now that could blow out to $90 billion a year by the end of the decade,” she said.
“The Daily Telegraph has today revealed Dungeons and Dragons gaming nights and Lego-based therapy are just some of the services being advertised in an emerging online marketplace for NDIS participants to spend their taxpayer funds on.
“The NDIS was originally designed for the most severely disabled, but it is being rorted, there is poor regulation, and it’s costing us billions.”

Why is it that the media never discuss the public servants in the Ndis who get outrageous salaries to treat PWD badly and bungle the plans. The complaints department and ridiculous red tape contribute to the blow out in a big way How is it economical to pay 5k for an OT report so that someone can buy a support for $1500 or prove a planner made a bad decision

Very true! Not to mention the ‘Support Coordinators’ & ‘Plan Managers’ allowing Participants funding to run out 12 months before the plans end date - leaving participants with absolutely NO support for 7+ months, whilst waiting for the NDIS to do a Plan Review…Then running out of funding again 4 months later! However, the Plan Manager & Support Coordinator are never questioned or held accountable regarding their incompetence & collusion? The only person affected is the participant of course - whose health rapidly declines without support & the impact is still ongoing 3 years later!! So much for ‘Duty of Care’… The NDIS has become a slush fund that benefits & protects fraudulent providers instead of innocent participants… If you question services paid out of your funding, you face further bullying & mental abuse - as the providers involved fear you’ve become a whistleblower… Allegedly of course!

Labor do not care how much tax payer funds they waste. The NDIS is the greatest waste of money in Australia’s history. Defund the BS scam/scheme and spend the money to benefit more Australians not just a small minority group taking advantage of the scheme. The NDIS has to go.

They are trying to make changes but some of the ndis recipients are running off to the greens or screaming out it's against human rights. The public needs to be made aware of this, currently some people don't have to and can't be made to provide receipts for services they are claiming for because policies don't match legislation.

as much as there is rampant fraud, there are also massive system failings. Self managed funding and funding rolling over without review to name two. Shorten has had two years to make changes but he hasn't.

Absolute Joke, We watch this Young woman across the road scamming the system for years now, walks with a slight limp, has People coming there all the time to help her, even has this guy walking 2 tiny dogs for like 5 kilometers sometimes, when she goes for the appointments, they load the car with frames & walking sticks, but she walks from the car to the house without any trouble, most of the time the partner is home, he should be taking her out, it should not be through the NDIS...
