I have some Schrade knives and roughed them up a lot. My 36 got a little chip when I accidentally hit a concrete block. Fixed that. I like them😊

It’s a shame they switched from 1095 and went to 8cr & Aus-8 with these newer schrade knives. I’ve got the original Griffen designs schf9 in 1095 and it’s an absolute tank of a budget knife.

I have a Schrade Adder in AUS10 that seems pretty good... though I must admit I haven't used it yet. It was only $16.

It's pretty much a 60-70 dollar clone of the Chris Reeves Pacific for all intents and purposes. The cope is that it's a better knife than the Pacific but I suppose that's true in terms of ever hoping to find one to purchase reliably. I managed to snag my Pacific a few years ago when it randomly came into stock with DLT while I was 1.5 years in on a 2 year projected waiting list (it's about 6 years lead time now and 100 dollars more than I paid for mine) . I'd probably get a few of these Schrades to abuse since the sheath I had made for the Pacific's probably able to fit them too.

The finger grooves were off just enough to be annoying for me. And no, you’re the first to chop with that one. In the years I had the thing, I don’t think I cut anything with it. And no, I never sharpened it. If I did the tip would be even...lol. I probably bumped the edge on something playing with it. I’ll reserve all the reasons why it stuck out for me and let you discover it for yourself. It does look like a better fit in your hands. Part of what I like about you...there’s no Sugar Coating things here...lol

Lol. Thank you. And I really do appreciate the knife. And honestly after a few mods this thing will be awesome.

You need to get an original SCHF43, the Jess X, the ones with saber grinds before they ruined them with hollow grinds. I've had one since the second run and, they are tanks. Probably the single best X-large knife Schrade ever made.

Bill Harsey/Chris Reeve design made by Reeve Knives. I’m assuming Schrade licensed the copyright.

Schrade is famous for screwing up an otherwise fantastic knife with hollow grinds because it is a cheaper manufacturing process. However a hollow grind will destroy a knfe that should have a flat or saber grind for strength and toughness.

I couldn’t agree more.

Ugh Schrade ruins so many knives with that stupid hollow grind. Their old schf was .25 1095 with a flat saber grind and a clip point...for $35. Just absolutely amazing.

About the only way I’d own a schrade at this moment in time, is if it was gifted to me, just like yours. Chances are it would be re gifted after a short period of playing with it. It must be cheaper to manufacture hollow ground knives. Hollow grids have a place for slicing knives, but no place on a knife that is going to see hard use. Let’s see what a hollow ground 3v knife can do, if there is such a thing.
