How is a small Korean girl just as strong as a Russian weightlifting champion
@cyvoltage29427 жыл бұрын
well technically, small d.va uses the butt of her pistol as melee and zarya her fist, so u cant say they are the same
@andrewsnyder93017 жыл бұрын
But the butt of a pistol won't provide more force, not really it'll provide a tiny amount of mass but the real thing is the speed at which they'd need to strike.
@giliansterckx7 жыл бұрын
It's also a different type of damage. The pistol is small but hard, while a fist is softer and bigger. As such, zarya's hit is spread over a bigger are, while the gun might just leave a bleeding wound on you if they hit you hard enough.

@@who_m7315 Most driving games don't have lamp posts and the like actually break, they usually just detach from the ground, which is what they're supposed to do in the real world. Trees, on the other hand, are meant to withstand the forces of nature for sometimes well over 100 years, and have no built in safety features. In the real world, if you were to hit a lamp post with your car doing 100 kph, your car would be fucked, but as long as you didn't hit anything else behind the lamp post, you would live. If you hit a tree at the same speed, you would likely die

Dude, you fucked up. 1 cm^2 isn't 0.01 m^2, it's 0.0001 m^2 because the centi is also squared. That should lower the punching speed to 24 m/s or so (trusting your other numbers) or about 50 mph. This is still really fast but a lot more sensible.
@abomesai188 жыл бұрын
No, you square it outside of the unit. Like if I had 5 cm^2, I ignore the cm for a second, just multiply 5x5 to get 25, reintroduce the cm, then convert to meters. would come out to 0.25 m or 0.05m^2.
@tristanroberts8 жыл бұрын
Nope. That isn't true and, it really should be obvious if you think about a 1 m * 1 m square. Now divide each edge into cm. Now there are 100 divisions per edge; if you draw lines across them you get 10,000 1 cm * 1 cm squares in the 1 m * 1 m square and therefore 1 cm^2 is 0.0001 m^2. This is also why 1 l is 1 dm^3 (a dm being 10 cm or 0.1 m) even though 1 ml is 1 cm^3: 1 cm^3 = 1 ml = 0.001 dm^3 => 1 cm^3 = 0.001 dm^3 Like, it sucks that it's written this ambiguously, but the prefix is *always* included within the power.
@BlueCosmology8 жыл бұрын
You can't convert cm^2 to just metres, 0.25m is in no way at all the same as 0.05m^2 or 5cm^2. 1 cm is (1/100)m, therefore 1 cm^2 is (1/100)^2m^2 = (1/10,000)m^2=0.0001m^2. Tristan is completly correct. 5cm^2 is 0.0005m^2, not 0.25m which is non sensical to say or 0.05m^2 which is just wrong. These "the science" videos are almost always badly researched nonsense.
@tristanroberts8 жыл бұрын
yeah, I completely missed the dimensional analysis fail there the first time. It sucks that these videos are often nonsense but this seemed like a really basic fuckup that anyone even slightly familiar with metric should be able to notice and catch before it becomes a script let alone a video.
@BlueCosmology8 жыл бұрын
tristan roberts It's certainly not his biggest mistake in these videos. You'd think that someone would realise that when you can't manage to solve an equation, you can't just swap the signs and pretend it's meaningful. Yet that didn't stop him from just randomly swapping the sign in the lorentz transformation in the mass effect video because he couldn't solve it. It's quite sad that so many people are being peddled such misinformed nonsense by this guy.

No, because we know for a fact that this is based in America, we know that America already uses this system, and a rehaul of a perfectly functioning system is unlikely in the foreseeable future, and you can see some signs have rust patterns that are quite substantial, indicating a number of years, so I believe they are the galvanized steel currently used in real life america

Pascals are a measure of pressure, right? If so, then multiplying the 80 Gigapascals by your area should net you the force required, not pascals again. In addition, force isn't calculated by looking at velocity, it's derived from the rate of change of momentum, so either you're not sharing something, or you're just pulling numbers out of your ass.

Now I'm not claiming to know everything about the topic but I would say it's because in this situation and others we're pretty short sighted. I've asked my science teachers the same thing and I usually hear that it's because it would be pretty tough considering most everyone would have to buy new equipment for the new system. Long term this isn't that big of a deal and it will make life easier but people don't want to have to spend money. This actually happened back around the 1930's and it didn't work. I know this is a lot more of an answer than you wanted but it's better than "Americans are just dumb." We're not dumb, we're stubborn and short sighted

The really scary part is how strong the punches would be if they actually used kinetic linking, rotated the fist to maximize imparted force (as used in the basic karate punch), or actually put their weight into it, rather than simply extending the arm. I can only imagine how powerful such a punch would actually be.

Dear Austin, did you really think before this video, that Overwatch heroes/villains are humans? First of all, let's clear out obvious once, like super intelligent gorilla Winston, war machine Bastion and enlightened robot Zenyatta. What's left are all just petty humans, right? *WRONG* Most of Overwatch heroes/villains are actually superhumans or have some kind of enhancement, like suits and mechs. Let's start with that: Genji - cyborg, only remaining human parts are probably brain and partially face McCree - robotic arm prosthesis Pharah - wearing some kind of suit, comparable to Iron Man, later suits Reaper - formerly super soldier due to the drug, later became something like a ghost/wrath Soldier 76 - super soldier due to the drug Tracer - possibly also super soldier, but mostly, she's out of time, literally Junkrat - radiation freak Torbjörn - several robotic prostheses Widowmaker - probably super soldier/assassin, her heartbeat is so slow, that her skin turned blue(how?!) D.Va - usually in her mecha suit, that explains everything Reinhardt - wearing some kind of suit, comparable to the older version of Iron Man's suit, Mark I Roadhog - radiation freak Zarya - the strongest woman ever, plus she's Russian Ana - probably super soldier, she survived the shot in her eye, speaks for itself Mercy - very close to Wolverine with her healing/regenerative abilities So, the most normal members and possibly fully humans are: Hanzo, Mei, D.Va without mecha, Zarya, Lúcio and Symmetra. And even with these we have no idea, if they're not somehow specially enhanced.

@10:20 - math fail; there are 10000 cm^2 per m^2, not 100 ... a square meter is 100cm per *side*, containing 10k cm^2. You should have wondered how a square with a side of 5 would have an area of 5 ... and I can't get to my calculator by that 0.053 number looks wrong too ...
@thulean.uruk-hai8 жыл бұрын
OK, it's a case of what we called "math magic" back in Naval Nuclear Propulsion training ... equation was wrong, but somehow magically got the right answer. The result is indeed just over 5cm: (5.08^2) - ((5.08-(2*0.278))^2) = 5.3398cm^2 for the area of the shear point. So the error was when you converted it to m^2 ... 0.000534m^2 not 0.053m^2, because you divided by 100 instead of 10000. C'mon, Austin, if nothing else typing "convert sq cm to sq m" into google would have gotten ya a converter for that. ;) Which, BTW, throws your force calcs off by a factor of 100 too. Still an insane amount of pressure required, but only 1% as insane as it would have been. XD Which makes sense, since if it required a semi with a wedge travelling at Mach 7 (as you proposed) to shear that post, how in the hell would we have ever seen it happen already?

10:17 You said "0.053 square meters or 5 square cm" That statement is false. I'll explain why. 0.053m^2 does indeed pretty much equal 5 square cm. But a square meter and a m^2 is not the same thing. 5m^2 for example is equal to 25 square meters and 5 square meters is equal to about 2.2m^2. You wrote 0.053m^2 and said that is pretty much 5 square cm which is correct. But your whole line was "0.053 square meters or 5 square cm" that is incorrect. It should have been "0.053 meters squared or 5 square cm". This may seem trivial but if you don't respect that terminology it can get confusing as hell so please only use square meters to simplify results not to make your math bat-shit complicated.
@SerKharl8 жыл бұрын
m^2 is actually how you write square meters. also, 0.0532m^2 is not in fact, 5 cm^2. It's 500 cm^2. any online conversion tool will tell you the same.
@Broockle8 жыл бұрын
SerKharl Frikn hell this is so confusing, I thought I had it xD 5 meters times 5 meters equals 25 square meters or 25m^2. I believe you. A square meter is the same as a m^2. But in the video he still sais "0.053 square meters or 5 square cm" My alarm bells start ringing when I hear that. Cause there should be 10000cm^2 in a m^2. So really he should be saying "0.053 square meters or 530cm^2. Frikn hell that's your answer isn't it? Fine you got it the first time. I'm still more right than the guy in the video xD
@FiveArc8 жыл бұрын
He did, however, make the error when converting cm^2-> m^2 (so it should be 0.0005 m^2). Obviously the post does not 500 square centimeters of area. Just thought I'd make note of that

Because our road systems would make no goddamn sense if we switched to metric. Exit signs are posted at mile markers, which if we switched over to metric would lead to large amounts of confusion and expense. And local construction laws are often in imperial, so many of our buildings would need to be rebuilt. Much of our construction material would be wasted if we made the full conversion to metric. The U.S. is a big place. We couldn't afford a full scale conversion. The best we can do is slowly adapt our current resources to metric, but for some reason, some of us think that imperial is patriotic.
@Major_Pixel8 жыл бұрын
It was thoroughly instituted into america before the metric system became standard, and the government doesn't care about converting. Unfortunately, the longer we go before converting the harder it will be to convert.
@tonythetroll11748 жыл бұрын
Actually, the US government has tried to switch in the past, but since it would cost manufacturers billions of dollars to switch from imperial to metric, they've lobbied against it every time it's come up. And when the people with the money don't want a change to happen, that change isn't going to happen. With that in mind, US citizens have to learn the imperial system, since almost all products here are measured by it.
