Well my first thought on finding out this episode's starting soon was "ooooh what a great way to avoid studying" .... I mean no, obviously I _never_ procrastinate.

procrastinating going to the doctors is so real, I’ve been having consistent headaches for a looong time and have been procrastinating going to the dr, but gonna get an appointment asap! Edit: shockingly got to speak to a dr on the phone very quickly! and was way less bad than i thought it’d be, so if you need a sign to stop procrastinating on going to the dr, here you go!

I would love to see the "think about what good this will do for you" versus "just think happy thoughts" study done on people with anxiety. I almost have to mildly dissociate in order to finish important tasks, because otherwise I get so worked up about the importance of the task and my own expectation of perfection that I can't actually get it done. Because of that... Listening to the pod while I work is actually helpful to my work performance! So thanks, guys!

Living with ADHD you arguably know more than the "average" person about time management, because you have actively engaged in more learning, understanding and applying time management theories to your life than the average person... it's just unfortunate that a lot of the stuff that should "work" doesn't with ADHD, at least not as effectively 🙃

really interesting to hear about working memory being a problem for some people! i’ve been diagnosed with adhd and also told that my working memory is in the top 2% for people my age (whatever that means) so i guess we’re all different haha

Study mentioned by Corry (at timestamp 9:20 approx): What Research Has Been Conducted on Procrastination? Evidence From a Systematical Bibliometric Analysis. Published 2022, in Frontiers in Psychology. I would post a link to the site page, but I'm not sure if it would work from comments (I've had issues with this in the past) but if you google the name it comes up quickly.

I’m sure u get this all the time, but I thought of something different thst would be so cool for you to cover: The fitness world! Consider: -The science of professional bodybuilding -The science of CrossFit -The science of resistance training variables (rest periods, tempo, intensity, volume, repetitions, frequency, and phasing) you can do a whole episode on just one of these training variables) -the science of overreaching/overtraining -the science of motivation/consistency in fitness -the science of mobility I can do this all day😂

the adhd experience was strong for me when my ears suddenly heard 'executive dysfunction' and I realised I'd been distracted and not listening for at least ten minutes. So I rewind, cause I really do want to be listening to this fabulous show ;) but I somehow get distracted again and zone back in at the SAME POINT as before.

I was diagnosed late with ADHD and autism and I was doing the whole "connect to the task" thing. I would manage to trick myself into seeing some meaning that would make it more fun and interesting, hence making me focus on the task

A small addendum on the marshmellow test, it basically more or less tested for rich and poor families. As in, kids who grew up in a family with food insecurity, or families where there is no excess food, or snacks available etc have only ever experienced that food is gone and they should eat it when it's there. Rich kids have learned that there will always be food/snacks and they will be able to believe that they can wait because the food will still be there. I've also seen it argued that kids who trust adults will believe them when they say they will get more later, and kids who have learned that adults cannot be trusted (ie, they have been abused in some way) will not believe them.

I would love to say I didn’t come here to be called out like this but honestly, I kinda did. But this is a bit scary, I’ve always procrastinated everything, although I think there’s some executive dysfunction mixed in there as well because I’ve been told neurotypical people don’t procrastinate going to the toilet for multiple hours… oh well. .-.
