It makes a lot of sense to me that rather than the 'default' sexuality being straight, the default sexuality of humans (and possibly all sexual creatures) is actually being bisexual/pan sexual. I mean, part of a creatures quote-on-quote purpose is to reproduce, hence sexual desire. Which may lead one to believe being straight is the default, since it can lead to procreation. But considering homosexuality and bi/pansexuality is seen across many creatures, maybe the default is just being horny and our genetic quirks and upbringings influence whether we prefer one gender over others? Also, I found it interesting that there were much fewer lesbians than gay men in the pie chart (can't consider that an accurate representation of the world's population but still). I wonder if this is because females are more likely to consider themselves bisexual than males? In a way, many straight men (and possibly gay men) are more pressured by society to stick to being attracted to one gender. Obviously there are many bi/pan males and many lesbian and straight females, but it's just a thought. I wonder if many people have the potential to be bi/pan but societal standards and their own determinations have caused them to choose one gender over the other, and perhaps men are more susceptible to this (not that this is a bad thing, just a curiosity). Or maybe this is completely wrong and people are truly just born attracted to one gender over the other in many cases, I'm not sure. Sexuality sure is complicated huh.

Considering that every girl was raised with the mindset that they have to be with a man at some point, I'm not surprised that they are more bi girls than lesbians but still we have to consider that there are a lot of closeted lesbians who are in het relationships or call themselves bi/straight so the pie chart might not be quite accurate.

There are certain groups , mostly people who love debating about politics - usually very negative and conservative things - in the comments. It is not a very high number of people, as on even the most controversial topics there are about 2k comments max. So many of us go to the comments and read them out for fun, because people there are mostly the epitomy of a conservative boomer mentality (example: in an article about women who were born with certain conditions but are now modeling they wrote “I didn’t ask to see it” - even though they clicked and opened the article themselves - and “I don’t see the beauty in it” etc). Comments under lgbt related topics are no more positive really. But the difference is that unlike average religious people, because we are all mostly atheists, they use science to hurt us. I saw mayby 1 or 2 comments about sins, but mostly people used the terms “degenerates” or “abnormal people” to reffer to the lgbt community. So they know very well that sexuality is not a choice and is based on science, yet they use that science to hurt many of us. The worst part is, there is no actual way to dispute them, because the word “degenerates”, although in a very degrading way is actually true.... But hey, at least one of our most known youtubers, who even made an interview with Dalaylama is openly gay and is accepted by many, with around 820k subscribers. Also we do see some gay couples in media, and there are celebrities or their children who are gay, so no biggie really, that 1k people will always exist in every country. But I’m really worried about the use of the term “degenerates” and “abnormal people” as in to reffer to our genes..... It’s almost impossible to win that fight, because we are the minority....

@Glory ForFreedom and? How does that relate to the above comment?
@blakeryan78943 жыл бұрын
@Glory ForFreedom it’s still not relevant you’re just being needlessly pedantic nobody in this thread said they were the same, besides whether you are physically or romantically attracted to the same sex you are gay, your comment is literally meaningless.

@Glory ForFreedom I know what the difference is thank you, My point is that anyone over the age of three would have understood the above comment is a joke and does not need your ‘explanation’

I'm a lesbian, my big sister is a pansexual (who is now happily married to a man and pregnant) my cousin is a transwoman, and my other cousin's son is gay. I think I can confirm this reserch. lol

This video is quite wrong. You said that up to 25% of homosexual behaviour is caused by the 5 genetics markers, and it is indeed right. But then you talked about the other 75%, and you said that they were other genes, which is just wrong. Even in the study that YOU linked in the description it says that the other 75% is caused by other factors, such as environment, and how a child develops their sexuality. I still can't figure out how you got that wrong, since in every article about that study there was written this thing, even in the one you linked in the description. Btw i am not homophobic, but i already read that study and infact i remembered it differently, then i checked and i was right.

I remember reading an article from, like, 8 years ago, that said they also couldn't identify a gay gene, but they also found that being gay was actually more about fenotype than genotype, and that it happened during pregnancy, that the mother's body influencing the child could cause it. I also remember reading they had data that, on the case of gay men, the more sons a mother has, the more likely her next son is to be gay. Does anyone knows anything about it?
@msk-qp6fn3 жыл бұрын
i think it was a ted talk video yup I think the logic was that the more a mother borns sons, the younger sons have a chance of being gayer to balance out the mother's children's typical male aggressiveness and softer feminine attitude or something
@bobbywise23133 жыл бұрын
So if a women had 8 sons, what would the odds be that her 9th son is gay? What are the statistical odds of any male being gay? Is it close to 10%? I would be curious if a study had been done that found higher chance of being a gay male if one has lots of older male brothers. But of course could that also be an environmental reason in itself. Perhaps having lots of older brothers has a certain psychological effect. I remember reading about order of birth having an effect on personality and on likelihood of success. I wish I could remember the source for that.

There is a spam channel created with our same name and logo which is trolling other channels. If you click on their comments left on other channels, you'll see they don't have any videos or subscribers. We have 380 videos and 37K subscribers. We have reported their channel to KZbin for impersonating us, using our copyrights and trademarked logos and name, and more. Their channel will soon be gone from the internet but we apologize to anyone who thought we were spamming other creators' channels. We would never do such a thing. Thank you for your understanding, Matt Haslam.

When I was still a student I read some articles on the subject and was positively surprised that even my biology textbook described sexuality as a spectrum and something that is not yet fully understood. I am glad to see that research is still ongoing and that the knowledge is becoming more commonplace.

I am very lucky and when I found out I was gay. I didn't need to fear about telling my parents so I just told them and they just want me to be happy. I feel extremely sorry for people who feel the need to hide for so long, some never come out which is a huge shame.
