My dog got sprayed by a skunk two times this week! (the I second being yesterday) I used the baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap concoction (no exact measurements, but I did add a lot of baking soda) and it’s magic! The smell has dramatically been reduced, but just a little bit of it lingers on his face. I let it soak into his fur for about 5-7 minutes and then thoroughly washed it out. Then I followed up with a conditioning shampoo to further get rid of the smell and make his skin more hydrated.

Most pet stores carry some kind of skunk shampoo that when the directions are followed , work quite well . Our dog has been sprayed so many times , that she has learned to stay away from the rear end of the skunk or leave them alone .

Skunks are actually pretty sweet animals, they're mild tempered. They only have a few sprays they can use before they have to recharge so they only use it as a last resort. They'll stomp their front paws, charge and back up, do a little handstand and then turn around...

All I can add is I was sprayed by one once under my porch. Unless you've been sprayed or been near one that has sprayed, you have no idea. When you smell them from a distance after they sprayed and think "Woo, that stinks"? That is nothing, NOTHING compared to the actual full on spray. They smell nothing alike. Imagine being locked in a room with a piles of burning tires and putrid rotting onions. That's how I'd describe it.

In my neighborhood there's quite a few skunks. Skunks have sprayed outside In the area and it stinks. The houses don't have ac so people have ac units. One night my air was on and I started to smell the spray. It was bad. It's also happened when we have had the windows open overnight downstairs before 😂

One night my husband and I were enjoying our evening until we smelled a foul odor that was anywhere in our house. We thought it was a gas leak because we didn't smell the odor outside (yet) so we called the fire department to investigate our house. Come to find out after they arrived they all looked disgusted by the odor now spreading outside the house. Lol They checked to see for a gas leak and they confirmed it wasn't a gas leak but a skunk found its way inside the walls! It smells like burnt rubber and death itself, and our eyes and nose were burning. Got pretty dizzy too from the smell too. 😭 It's been months since and most of the smell is gone but my husband and I still smell it in random corners of our house even after airing it out for weeks. You never forget a 🦨 smell

The stench of skunk most people have smelled while driving down the road is nothing compared to getting sprayed at point blank range lol. It is absolutely putrid! I speak from experience. the only thing that remotely worked counteracting the smell is a combination of dish soap, baking soda and peroxide and even that doesn’t get rid of it. When I got sprayed I smelled like a skunk for at least three days and just had to ride it out. Uggh bad memory lol.

I used to deliver news papers. One fine morning I hit a skunk with me car about half way through my route. Despite me and the papers both being INSIDE the car, we both ended up with the smell. My boss called me later that morning to ask why I was getting so many complaints. He thought I hadn't finished the route, but I had. People just don't like skunk smell with their morning paper.
