I get that comment frequently when I give demonstrations. Just something passed down from generation to generation. I love it when someone pets a snake for the first time and their eyes get all wide and they say "wow . . they are not slimy at all"

Where I’m from (urban area) it’s really rare to find a snake let alone touch them I’ve seen plenty of frogs, geckos and turtles in my area though. But I think people may think they’re slimy because of how shiny their scales look

Vichet Meng No, snakes gotta eat. If there had been a ton of snakes around before the onset of the Black Death, eating the diseased rats and scaring others away, millions would not have suffered. What do you do when mice get into your house? I take it you don't set out mouse traps or let your cat hunt them down. I guess you just let them roam free, biting through your boxes and bags of food, trailing feces and urine in your house, potentially leaving parasitic eggs, fleas, and diseases scattered throughout your house for you to contract.

'Melyssa K' Kennedy Bruh, haven’t you ever heard of live traps? I had rats a few months ago, which is common where I live in Florida. I set out several live traps, caught them, and released them. Haven’t had a problem since. Sure, an animal is most likely going to eat them after I release them, but at least those rats are going to nourish an animal rather than me just killing it and throwing it away.
