When I was 8 I usually go into the forest and collecting dried wood for fire. Occasionally, I ran into these guys and they're just awesome to watch and I was very fascinated with how nature could granted such creature without wing and yet it was able to fly. They're fairly long and usually green hard to defect if they're on a tree. You must pay close attention or else.

We have these "flying snakes" in southern Arizona USA. They are sometimes five or more feet in length and will easily climb and then launch themselves toward another tree or the ground if they feel they are being pursued or trapped.The body undulates and appears to glitter as it appears to fly with accuracy to its target landing. They are not common here but when you first and then next see one glide by, you will be amazed. It's called a Mexican Coachwhip and they are extremely fast on the ground and because of this are sometimes mistaken for Red Racers and other "racer" snakes. I encounter these several times a year on my rural property but have only seen them "flying" four times in the 30+ years at my place here.
