My son's first week of daycare he got sick with rhinovirus and passed it to me. It's labeled as the common cold, but it WHOOPED my ass. Within 12 hours onset of symptoms, I had 103.8 fever and I literally had 2 sheets and 4 throw blankets on top of me. It took me forever to warm up. I finally fell asleep and then my body woke me up because it was being smothered. What a ride in hell! I always know I'm coming down with a fever because the chills always start in my lower back and butt.

Just had one of the worst nights of my life. It's winter so I thought I was just cold last night when I couldn't stop shaking for two hours after putting on sweat clothes and extra blankets. Whenever I get a fever, I'm looking forward to the moment when I sweat like I've just jumped into a pool. Because at that point the fever usually stops and I start feeling better. (Sometimes it takes 2-3 "sweat sessions" before the fever stops... but it's alwaysa big relief). However, that might only work because I'm still young.

imagine ...this is probably what drug addicts go through (often) if they didnt get their fix. Awful. im having a fever right now ( not due drugs haha ) and everytime i start feeling kinda warm, i make sure to even put on another hoodie an drink some tea, to make the body heat up as fast and as much as possible. With this i always noticed i have fewer sweat sessions!

I keep feeling hot and cold my headache goes away then comes back , dry mouth only when the headache kicks in.I showered with cold water the water would still feel warm here and there. your organs and nerves can get damaged if your body stays at a high temperature (103-104 celcius) or stays hot for a long time

Good question. Actually, you should only take medicine if you have a high grade fever. Most of the time, 100-101 is manageable and is best left untreated so your body can use it purposefully. However, if it doesn't taper off or stays high for 2 or more days, you need to see a doctor and take medicine. It's one reason now why pediatricians actually tell you to not give your children medicine to stop the fever before getting vaccinations. It's a natural response and can hinder the effectiveness as long as the fever isn't too high.

It depends on if you can suffer through it or not. Some ppl can deal with a 102 degree fever others like myself can't. I will literally cry, pain/discomfort whatever you wanna call it is not my strong suit! It's not like my body stops fighting the infection it's just not as hostile of an environment which don't forget messes with other cells too when you have a fever.

taking tylenol helps to relieve those chills. Once you take them later you'll feel the effects kick in and your body starts to heat up like a campfire near you or something. It's a nice warm feeling.
