Much more effective when one is well hydrated. Hydration results in thinner, less viscous sputum, which makes it easier to cough it up and out past the vocal chords.
@edricawebb15783 жыл бұрын
HELLO. The lungs need to be hydrated the same as muscles. We all seem to understand that muscles need to stay hydrated for best health and performance, but most people don't understand that our organs, veins and vessels require hydration for proper performance, also. "Dry cough" means that your lungs are dehydrated and therefore you cannot cough up the phlegm/sputum. Then that crap stays in your lungs and becomes infected. This was always true even before Covid, so more important now.
@OOTurok3 жыл бұрын
@@edricawebb1578 Yeah... the OP pretty much said that the technique is... "Much more effective when one is well hydrated."
@edricawebb15783 жыл бұрын
@@OOTurok Yeah, I was just trying to not only support the original comment, but give a little biological reasoning as to why hydration is so important to every part of our body, especially our lungs in times of respiratory viruses.
@edricawebb15783 жыл бұрын
@Coolerthan Afrieza "Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%." The lungs are 83% water, the highest of any organ in the body. Why on Earth, with all of these viruses attacking the lungs, would we not promote super-hydration?
@OOTurok3 жыл бұрын
@Coolerthan Afrieza The purpose of drinking juice & eating watery foods, like soups... is to provide nutrition in addition to maintaining hydration. Electrolytes are extremely critical to hydration... because without them, the cells in your body cannot absorb water. When you are infected with pathogens... you rapidly loss electrolytes into your bloodstream, as your immune system fights off the infection, which is passed through your urine. This is why people, who only drink water when they are ill, become bloated. The bloating is a sign, your cells are not absorbing the water. You also rapidly looses essential vitamins and minerals during an infection, which can be quickly replaced with different jucies. This is why doctors always say to drink plenty of fluids when you are sick, to get hydrated any way you can... & given that juices are 99% water... it will literally be impossible to become dehydrated drinking & eating only juices & soups.

Deep breathing is just taking a long breath in through the nose. It should be longer than your exhale. Then holding it for just a moment (don't make it a contest...just for a moment). Then exhale through the mouth. Just keep it up and your oximeter readings will go up. (You should feel the inhalations in your diaphram). A nurse turned me on to this. Keep in mind that when you are in the hospital, they will not release you unless your oximeter reading is at least at 90. So, immediately after breakfast get ready for the doctors to make their rounds...relax and practice the breathing! If you can keep your readings up and have no other issues pack your bags. I have COPD and it's pretty bad but because I've eliminated some bad teeth I've stayed out of the hospital. I also had to get medication to avoid panic attacks....not necessarily because I can't breath but when I get hot and my need for oxygen goes up! The doctors in the hospital let me know that they cannot prescribe them and said I should talk to my primary doctor. i was so suprised she dashed off a prescription. Also, if you keep getting jury summons, call them up! COPD is an acute illness. After sending letters from my doctor over and over again, I finally talked to someone with brains who excused me permanately! Remove everything you can that creates anxiety and stress. COPD is enough trouble. Good luck...be well!

In my experience, with my own cough following a cold, the important part of this is the breathing out as long as possible. Breathe out until you feel there's nothing left and you are actually making a wheezing noise. The wheezing noise is the phlegm starting to come up. At that point I can cough a bit and get something out. Instead of all that coughing without anything coming out. I'm a smoker so I always cough, and I do suffer with a cold so this strategy is great for getting rid of phlegm.

Doctor said I could of died if I waited any longer been admitted. One of the staff told me to breath in 3 times and then the last one breather fast and hard. That exercise pushed a lot of the phlegm i had in my lungs. And I felt so much better no more limited breathing.

I finally gave it up almost 2 years ago at age 42... I had been a moderate smoker since age 16. 26 years. and I loved to smoke. I did. I was sure my last breath would be exhaling cigarette smoke. I can't say exactly what pushed me to actually commit to quitting. It was a combination of wanting to be healthier that's for sure. I love going to shows and festivals like Bonnaroo and dancing all day and into the night-and i loved other physical activities like hiking and swimming and once I hit 40 I could feel the weight of all the shit in my lungs. I have always suffered from terrible migraines and the last few years of my 30s those migraines were originating from my sinuses. I wanted to smell and taste everything like I felt I had not in at least a decade. And I wanted to no longer smell like an ashtray or for my clothes or my home to smell that way either ,even though I had at least stopped smoking inside my house or my car for at least 2 years by this point. I wanted to not throw away 6-7$ every time I bought a pack of cloves and use that money for things like art supplies,new tools for woodworking and epoxy resin bc I very much wanted to start my own business making one of a kind live edge wood, epoxy river coffee tables. There were just so many things I wanted that smoking was keeping me from- in one way or another. It was hard. much harder than when I quit drinking and 2nd only to kicking opiates(which I unfortunately had to do twice bc I'm hard headed and like most addicts thought I could partake in highly addictive substances occasionally without becoming physically dependent. I found out that I was,in fact, a human being and that avoiding a physical addiction to things like pain killers and methadone is not at all possible. But I digress. Giving up smoking was definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made. I admit I am not a cold turkey kind of gal and as with everything else,I had to ween myself off slowly,over time. Things really picked up for my when I bought myself a new vape and e juice as my 42nd bday present to myself- and the key was spending every cent of my monthly cigarette budget when I did. I boxed myself into a perfect corner. I needed the nicotine and could have it if I vaped. Bc I also needed to pay my rent , utilities, car payment,groceries,food for my animals,ect... And bc I purposely spent every cent of cig money on a vape and juice- buying a pack of cigarettes was not going to be possible for at least 3 weeks. Period. After the 1st week though,I knew that putting down cigarettes forever was not only possible- it was already in the works. I could taste and smell everything now and no longer felt winded at the slightest of physical activities. Suddenly so many things were no longer a dream but a reality for my very near future. That kind of positive reinforcement did wonders for my self esteem and since of accomplishment and all these things combined just make the process easy. By the beginning of the next month when I had money to burn (literally-on cigarettes if I had wanted) I was so far into the whole transformation that I ended up saving that money as I continued to now vape less and less. When my e juice got low a couple of momths later i forced myself to stretch it out even further just to prove i could do it and I did not end up purchasing more e juice for another 2 weeks. When I did I finally ran out I bought only one bottle this time and in addition to a much smaller bottle i also went down on the strength as well. That ended up being my last nicotine related purchase to date. I have since only continued to make better,healthier life choices and have never looked back,never felt a twinge of regret or so much as craved even a single drag off a cigarette or a vape. Quitting is a ridiculously difficult thing to do. I know because my final ,successful attempt was no where near my 1st. Everything fell into place in my life- and I had a wonderful support system too. I share this with you bc I know if I can do it you can do it. I believe in you bc I was able to believe in myself and make the dream a reality. I wanted it enough to make it happen. And I know when you are ready- you can do it too. I hope this helps you- if only in the smallest of ways. I hope it will help and empower anyone hoping to make the same change for their lives and for themselves. And if you find you are not yet ready- please,don't give up the dream. It can be your reality whenever you are ready. No judgment. Only love... I wish you- and all who may read this- all the happiness and health this world has to offer. Take care and stay safe. ♡

@Videos to watch on Sunday Ohhh I had some weird broncitis after going into the hospital in the 80's. My grandmother freaked out said people were dying from it, well I figured it would shake off, and it didn't. It was pretty scary, hung on for months. SO a friend of mine brought over a bottle, 120 tablets, $4.50 a bottle, no side effects, I took 4-5 every 4 hours with something hot, water, tea, coffee, I avoided obvious dairy products. It got rid of if IMHO fairly quickly, keep in mind I tried a few OTC products and NOTHING this stuff was brutal and exhausting. I had a cough, my lungs were a mess, the whole 9 yards. He said if you catch it when it first starts, it will be gone in less than 2 days with this stuff. So sometimes you get that almost burning cuz your lungs are so inflamed? Well you can't get enough air to even breathe BECAUSE of the inflamation. OK THAT IS THE TIME TO HIT IT, and I also gargle with hydrogen peroxide or warm salt water at first sign of sore throat, obviously vitamins, major vit C, D3 and zinc and hydration. I have had a few different types, every other year it's a bit different. I have given this to customers and friends and gotten rave reviews, and the thing i like the most, no sleepy, no upset stomach, no side effects, it just works! Meaning you can drive if you have to. ok I looked this up you can just search it, this is listing from Amazon, 2 options these are the more hard core pellets, you don't have to take as many, but not the sugar coated tablets: Great Wall Brand Yin Chiao Chieh Tu Pien (Supports Sinuses, Immune, and Respiratory Systems) (96 Tablets) (1 Box) That was on amazon for 16.00 They usually come in I think 10 vials and you don't take as many, when you're sore throated, these are no fun :( and for 14.00 I usually take these: Yinchiao Herbal Tablets - Superior Quality - 120 Tablet Bottle 120 Count (Pack of 1) Sam company, but they're under SOLSTICE on the label. I actually just had an issue and ordered some of these not too long ago. These are the sugar coated, very easy to swallow, read the write ups. I will never be without AT LEAST ONE BOTTLE. I don't even bother with OTC stuff anymore, waste of money and makes you feel terrible. This stuff shrinks the swelling in your lungs like magic, and clears that stuff up. I haven't ever heard it clashed with medications either, I don't take any medications, so I don't know about that part, I'm all about vitamins. if you can catch it fast enough, it won't have time to settle in and make itself at home deep in your lungs. I'm not sure I can post links here, but if you put those into amazon search, or ebay you should find it quit easily. Oh and REST, you do need to REST 😎 It's the best thing after some chicken soup, and NO that isn't just an old tale either!

This is excellent! I also recommend doing long 'Om-like' sounds (strictly for health practice, no 'oneness' mumbo-jumbo' here for my Christian peoples -the Lord comes to separate and we have no power in such process😉), Holding this long 'Oh or Ho or 'HOME' sound'👍 is rarely recognized for it's very-fast health benefits, the vibrations when holding a consistent healthy tone works wonders on the lungs throat and thyroid gland. Great for cardio too. Practice doing it as long as you can! Watching a second timer and increasing on your record until you reach a minute if you can. For my dubious Christian peoples... Try thinking of these long holds as a sort of fasting for the Lord, your flesh will call for you to take a breath and interrupt you, deny it. Control the body or the body will control you! Give it to the Lord to do his will. 1 Corinthians 10:31, -whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.

After watching and practicing your techniques I have been able to finally start to cough up this nasty infection. I can breathe a little easier and feel better today than I have since I contracted covid. Thank you so very much sir, these techniques allow you to get air under the infection and cough it out. Thank you x1000

I’m at home with Covid pneumonia doing the same thing. I’m trying not to let the sputum settle in. I already don’t have a lot of room to breathe because I’m 29 weeks pregnant.

@nv brush I pray for your speedy recovery!! I know it’s hard and being dx with Covid and pneumonia is horrible as I was dx with it and had to stay in the hospital for a week. I pray this technique also helps me. Did you have any fluid in your lungs? I had fluid in my left lung and now I have two ore dx’s added.

I was very sick with something about 6 years ago - 3 weeks out of work, fevers, very sore throat, couldn't eat, lost 20 pounds. The aftermath is that I have phlegm coming up everyday from my lungs. It just never stops. Definitely going to give this a try and see if I can finally get my lungs back. I can't run more than 100 meters without huffing and puffing like a steam engine, with complete lack of air to the muscles, and unable to continue 'running' faster than most people walking at a quick pace.

Thank you for this piece of knowledge you gave me. Now, I can breathe properly. it took me 34 years to solve this issue. my tonsils were removed when I was a child as a consequence of infection carried out by phlegm.
