Great review as always James! I was working at a movie theater when this was first released back in the day. I remember really enjoying it but hardly anyone saw it. I've still met no one besides my friends who worked there with me that have seen this. I'd love to see it on 4K. It will be like watching it on 35mm film again! I've been trying to get more reviews up on my channel!

I agree that not too many people went to see this great movie 🎥 & I very rarely find people who know how much of a hidden gem 💎 this film is! Good review -- thanks for this. Looks like a sizeable improvement to me. I've always been a big fan of this film... even saw in the theater when it first came out. The Score and Heat are two of my all-time favorite heist films. I'm excited to receive my copy... it sadly didn't arrive when it should've (from Amazon, btw -- I pre-ordered it 2 months ago, but when release day came, Amazon came up empty-handed with a shipping delay). I ended up purchasing from another retailer, who had it in stock and shipped it out right away. I've since learned there can sometimes be delays in getting Kino items from Amazon for some reason (which I was kind of surprised by... I'd never pre-ordered anything from Kino before). Usually I have a good experience with Amazon, but this was kind of an exception. Either way though, appreciate the review, screen shots, and your balanced analysis.

To share with you, it’s not just a simple one retailer issue (Amazon) going on, Kino has had numerous supply chain issues & delays with releases going on for a couple months now as well as numerous other studios I work with! Studios are having trouble getting their products produced & delivered by the companies they hire to make them, so this leads to delays & it has effected even my early review copies from numerous studios not always showing up as early as they are supposed to! So some retailers choose not to update websites with any delays & just keep showing in stock even if it’s truly not & others simply post it right away when there is any perceived delays till they get a new confirmation from the studios. So I don’t let it bother me too much anymore because it seems like these slight delays are just an ongoing thing within the industry & I try to just wait patiently for each release! I hope this helps explain this all a little better for you. To be honest I am kinda surprised at how few people have seen this great movie & it seems that a lot of people won’t even give it a chance & that’s just a shame lol!!! 🥹

@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia Sure I understand all that and how supply chain issues are impacting things. But just from a pure consumer perspective, I was able to get it shipped out to me within a day of release from Deep Discount. And there weren't any smoke and mirrors or ambiguity with them... they actually had it in stock on release day when others didn't, and they shipped it to me within 24 hours (which I've verified is actually in transit -- not just a shipping label created). But to be fair, I did notice similar delays as Amazon on other sites like Best Buy, Walmart, etc., so I understand what you're saying. Deep Discount appears to have not been as negatively impacted on this release as other retailers, for whatever reason. Maybe I just got lucky this time. But keep in mind, I say all of this as someone who buys probably 90 percent of his stuff from Amazon. So I do typically like Amazon. It was really just in this case where I felt I needed to go a different route.

Great review and great film. Watched it many many years ago on Bluray, maybe even dvd. Looked great in 4K on my C9 OLED. KL did a solid job over the old 2K BR. I would say it was a tad over saturated but nothing too crazy. Keep of the great reviews my man.

I saw The Score at the cinemas one early 2000. I have the DVD. However, I will buy the 4K disc. This was Marlon Brando's last film and it was directed by Frank Oz. I hope they release Little Shop Of Horrors (1986) on 4K which was also directed by Frank Oz.

I agree it’s great movie, very under appreciated & not enough people have ever seen it! I also haven’t been notified by the studio that that title is being worked on yet, I am personally desperately hoping The Phantom is going to be one of their upcoming 4K UltraHD releases!

Yah the Blu Ray is pretty poor looking lol!!! But this movie is so underrated & too many people never gave this a chance, so hopefully my coverage of this movie will help people discover this fun crime movie 🎥

“A new blu-ray” means it’s from the new 4K scan, right? So, it should look much better than the old Blu-ray.

I dislike film grain. It wreaks havoc with HEVC compression.

🤯WOW! Sorry to say this but that’s just SAD!! 😳 Also you are definitely NOT🚫 a cinephile & you don’t love classic films ( or any film for that matter) that’s filmed on film stock! Retaining the natural film grain is extremely important otherwise you lose a ton of natural depth, details & colors that’s naturally in the film grain & images, if you remove it you will also cause severe degradation of the film itself! So your knowledge & understanding of how to properly view, restore & preserve movies & films is sadly very wrong & very limited! 😳 Hopefully over time you will learn to enjoy & see how important preserving the natural film grain truly is!👌😉

@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia You are right. I also despise motion blur and lens flare. While I can tolerate film grain to a point, there is a limit for me and after that it annoys me. Everyone has their own tastes.
