Great show of castles that ive seen or been to over the years, thanks for the history. The story of the Good Sir James Douglas throwing Bruces heart into the midst of battle may only be a story but its a great one at that

Great channel guys, new subbie here. Our heritage is Scottish (my maiden name is Hume) and I would love to see Hume Castle again some day but I would settle for a video of it here on your channel. I was eight years old when I last visited. Our clan tartan is the Hume tartan of course although I like Ancient Hume tartan just as well. I love all things Scotland, my Aunt and Uncle lived in a close located in Glasgow, Scotland. Potato Scones, Scotch Baps, Haggis and mince and mash are some of my favorite foods. Well done guys! I look forward to watching more of your videos as time permits. 😁👍👌💕👑

Just found your channel, I will go back through the videos. I have Bruce, Grant, Ballew and several other Scottish lines of DNA so I'm half Scot. Scalloway castle would be interesting since my great grandma was full blooded Shetlander. Thanks!

Excited about this channel, great first video! Been to Scotland a few time now and definitely fallen in love with the place. Really liked New Slains Castle, it's a relatively 'young' ruined castle. You're still able to make sense of the place and also see how it was built. That's the reason why it stood out for me!
@scotlanders26126 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, sounds like you've done some castle hunting yourself! New Slains Castle is brilliant, and I know Neil has some cracking drone footage from there so I'm certain we'll make a video featuring it before long. Did you know that a few miles down the coast is the ruins of Old Slains Castle, built several centuries prior to New Slains? New Slains was also one of the inspirations for Dracula's Castle, with Bram Stoker staying as a guest of its laird while traveling in Scotland. Cheers for watching, hope we gave you some ideas for your next trip to Scotland! - David

Loved the video BUT the north-east of Scotland is full of amazing castles from the over photographed Dunnottar to the amazing ruins at Kildrummy and Huntly, the lairds tower houses at Crathes, Drum and Craigievar, to the large castle palaces of Fyvie and Brodie. Guys leave the central belt and the west coast behind and discover the forgotten corner of Scotland.
@scotlanders26123 жыл бұрын
Thanks Fiona. We do cover the north east - very much 'castle country' we agree - quite a lot with our various projects, just not in this particular video. I was up there last autumn and I'm looking forward to my next trip: www.travelswithakilt.com/aberdeenshire-castles/

First photo Dunnottar, but your article does contain some of my NE favourites now you just have to do the video to go with the article once we are out of lockdown.

Great video guys. As a Maxwell by marriage, let's have a look at Caerlaverock Castle... the family seat. Sir Herbert Maxwell won great fame by defending his Caerlaverock Castle against King Edward I of England in 1300. During the Wars of Scottish Independence the Clan Maxwell supported King Robert the Bruce and fought at his side at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, under the clan chief of Eustace Maxwell. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caerlaverock_Castle However, I'm originally from Aberdeenshire and as far as castles are concerned, absolutely spoiled for choice, but the most atmospheric of north east castles has to be Dunottar... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunnottar_Castle Check it out - you'll love it!!
