I have a Scottish Mother. It's so relaxing to hear a Scottish accent that's not screaming whilst hitting me with a shoe.

Merci, Ginette. Tranent était autrefois une ville minière importante, et le charbon y a été exploité pour la première fois au XIIIe siècle par les moines de l'abbaye de Newbattle. Vous devriez venir le visiter! Gordon

It's hard to work that out, Lisa, and it may have varied over the country. I suspect, at least initially, not. But education for all did eventually arrive. Kind regards, Gordon

It seems to be that Scottish enlightenment goes hand and hand with freemasonry of the Scottish rite
@gordonsscotland8441 Жыл бұрын
Masonic Lodges predate the Enlightenment, with the first Scottish Lodge being established in Edinburgh in 1599, but no doubt many figures of the Enlightenment period may also have been freemasons. Kind regards, Gordon
