I only see back to innovation, no basics here. A RTS with hero and dungeon mechanics like Warcraft 3 is finally something worthy and complex unlike Stormgate which was the most boring disaster of a game ever After the "basics" we had no RTS ever since 2010 btw.

@ No, thats old and was Reforged which was just a huge downgrade sadly. Recently with the new update they remastered Warcraft 1 and 2 while giving Warcraft 3 a huge update, check it out :) It happened in November I believe.

No it was called World of Warcraft, no such game as Warcraft. The second one was called World of Warcraft 2 and the third one was World of Warcraft 3 I should know I played and own them all. The MMO World of Warcraft was a huge admin mistake but as the game was already released Blizzard decided to just leave it as they said no one will notice.

If you are into great campaigns play Rowan the Wise or Curse of the Forsaken, Rise of the Bloodelves All amazing and absolutely stunning campaigns, Curse of the Forsaken will get a rework soon too. Rowan the Wise for example has completely custom voice acting, no AI use since that all happened before AI voices were a thing.

@ Yeah the dude who made the Rowan the Wise one also made one for Malfurion that are basically two campaigns in one cause you can pick after the prologue between going good/evil (nightelf or highborne) each with their own plot, spells, race, units and so on. Super cool stuff and one of the reasons I still love the game nowadays :)

I don't remember what the game was called, but you played an FPS/RTS hybrid game where one player on each team was playing the game like an RTS and the rest were playing as the units. It would be interesting if they did something like that with this game, so you can play a multiplayer teams mode where one person controls the RTS elements and the other player/s control the hero units (or even regular units) for their team. The hero units were really what set Warcraft III apart for me from other RTS games of the 2000s. Also, the fact that regular units also often had abilities you had to manage mid-fight, with cooldowns and mana costs and things like that, made it very strategic (and difficult for me since I have very low APM in RTS games). I doubt I'm the only person who likes the idea of a hybrid mode considering the spin-off mod for Warcraft III, DotA, spawned so many other games like LoL, DotA 2, HotS, Smite, and even (arguably) contributed to the hero shooter genre in general, leading to games like Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, Paladins, Valorant, and Apex Legends.

I mean its a demo with 3 units per faction, pathfinding is also very rough. I couldn't play it for more than 15min personally but I do look forward to more developed versions in the future. Certainly far more exciting than Stormgate.

To me RTS is the worst trategy in gaming. Blizzard got eaten by corporate greed. EA makes bad games and blames the genre for it, instead of them making a bad game. Relic chases stupid trends like Dota and kills Dawn of War RTS, blames the genre. Birdbrain studios. People love RTS and people wanna play RTS but people dont wanna play bad games. Heck look at Stormgate, mobile graphics WORSE than Warcraft 3 while giving me 45 FPS in heavy battles on a 4090

It's really sad that these days there are no classics that we grew up with anymore, everything is old and abandoned by AAA, and now indie devs with less skill and resources are needing to recreate BASIC games like WARCRAFT ffs... As cool as this looks it has a ways to go before anyone can dream of it touching Warcraft levels of influence, and Warcraft was a great game... why is there not a modern WarCraft game? ... Once again they make GAMES for people who AREN'T GAMERS. People who NEVER buy games - THAT's who they WANT to buy ALL of the video games these days, because all of us losers are hooked on dopamine DLC lootboxes right where they want us, or so they figure.... Mack, could you please do a review on Age of Empires 3 DE? It’s truly one of the best RTS ever made with unique factions that are completely different, the use of trade routes, dozens of native allies, artillery, mercenaries etc. you can even fight the French using the British ;). PVP is still growing and is excellent. But they also have campaigns/skirmish if PVE is more your thing.

Yeah they MUST delete potions, as a placeholder for the demo its fine but never ever keep it in. Keep potions either only for heroes or in the editor for modding purposes.
