For once, I would love to see one of the killers caught early on. Even though we’d know it’s not over by the runtime, it would create added tension for the characters assuming all is well only for another to be revealed an hour later.

I remember when this flick came out, and Craven and Williamson said only the actors who were in the ending scenes were given the full script, and did not get it until they were getting closer to shooting the ending. And IIRC, one of them said the last 20-30 pages were printed on red paper, which made it nearly impossible to copy or scan on 90s computer equipment.

I feel like that would've been a badass way to kill off Dewey, but I'm so happy it didn't go that way. I like Mikey as a killer wayyyyyy more than I'd like Derek or Haley. It would've been cool to see a third killer being Cotton. He has a brilliant motive and I feel they didn't let him act on it truly. I love the face call, and I wish they would've done more with randy.

Scream 3 was Perfect. Soundtrack beyond words. It was more of a hangout movie with the funniest dialogues in the franchise. S2, I will never forget that night in the cinema. I was 15yo and went alone.

Scream 3 is definetly the weakest in the series, the writting was so bad and the movie felt way more cartoony than the rest of the series. The Columbine events don't justifie the bad direction and writting at all. I do enjoy the movie but is the worst one in the franchise.

Another thing that supports this was the original script is if you listen to the audio commentary for Scream 2 on DVD, Blu-ray, or the 4K version with Wes Craven, the film editor, and one of the producers (this commentary was recorded in 2000 while they were also doing the commentary for Scream 3) - They talk about this script and say how it changed because it got leaked online. They talk about how in the original script Derek and Hallie were the original killers. That Cotton and Sidney have this big knife fight at the end and Wes even talks about the part where everyone just dies.

Scream 2 would be my favorite by FAR if it weren’t for the original. It’s very close between those two, but the original just edges it out by a bit. 2 is definitely my favorite of the sequels, though. It’s so, so good. Edit: I love the movie we ended up with most of all, but GOD would it have been cool to see Gale punch out Mrs. Loomis defending Sidney. Also the Gale and cameraman Randy dynamic sounds like a lot of fun.

While I do agree with you in that what we got was better than this earlier script, I do really love the idea of seeing multiple Ghost Faces attacking simultaneously in costume. It’s keeps the spirit of the double killer twist of the first film, and the potential of seeing 3 or even 4 ghost faces at once could be both comedic and terrifying 😂

It would be kool if sidney is framed as the murder in VI last min at the very end and then 7 is from her perspective trying to escape jail time and prove her innocence. At the end the title drops and reveals its part 1 of 2 and 7 is split into 2 movies so that we can see what the other characters were up too.

we’ve seen cotton be a crazy creepy man and actually be nasty to Sidney in the library. He was over stepping and getting more aggressive in that scene and was literally blocking her off from getting away from him.. he could’ve been the killer.

Interesting hearing all of this and realizing that much of the unused plot points you’ve listen were used in scream 6, with the exception of Dewey’s death which took place in 5. More than 2 Ghostface killers, final girl is facing accusations that she’s the real killer, Gale weathers gets a call from Ghostface. The scene where you have a supporting actor tag teamed by two Ghostface killers at the same time on camera in front of the final girl. I think all of this bodes will for the theory that scream 7 will be utilizing unused plot points from early drafts of 3 which included an army of Ghostfaces and Stu Macher as the man pulling the strings which would tie nicely back to scream 5 as the man who radicalized Amber and Richie, and back to scream 1, because it’s fucking Stu Macher.

I’m glad we got the script that we got now because the original script sound like a hot mess. I can’t see Randy being a cameraman, Derrick being a killer will be too cliche and predictable, and Cotton being a killer wouldn’t really make any sense because most of the audience just gain sympathy for him for being framed by Billy and Stu. The only change I would like to see happen is Stu returning on Scream 3 because Wes Craven was supposed to bring him back on scream 3 and Matthew lillard confirmed it that would’ve been epic.

While the boyfriend thing sounds interesting, I dont know if it would have worked. The benefit of the boyfriend being the killer is the big betrayal at the end. BUT: Derek is so f*cking obvious that I wonder if it even would have had that betrayal effect. Its like the viewer already knows he is GF but the characters still need to find out, its that f*cking obvious. And I dont think I would have suspected Joel at all. It would have been obvious that the film wants you to think he is Derek`s partner because he is pre-med and shit but he is not. So the only option left is Hallie. And as far as I can tell neither Derek nor Hallie are being attacked so that you might doubt yourself. I dont know about anyone else but this just sounds way too obvious to me. The Mrs. Loomis twist is still awesome and is probably there to make up for these obvious killers. So that you wont guess everything. Great video again man, absolutely love your humor.

I am not sure if this was deliberate or not but there's a scene in S2 just before Sidney goes back into the sorority house and receives the call from Ghostface, the camera closes up on Derek and he looks strange in that frame it seems they were hinting/leaning towards making him one of the killers.

In my opinion, Scream 2 is just as great as the original, and maybe a little tiny bit better than the first one in terms of quality. I love the first four, and I liked the last one but was not as good as the first four. I wish they could have made both versions of Scream 2. Why not? Fuck it! Just make both versions, directors cut style! Release the one they actually made, and then make this original version and then release it on dvd like a directors cut or director’s original version. I accept Mrs. Loomis and Mickey as the two Ghostfaces. I also would have accepted Mrs. Loomis and the boyfriend Derek as the two killers also. However, I would not have bought Hallie, her roommate, as one of the killers, because if she is her roommate, then she could have easily taken out Sidney in the beginning. I would not have mind Cotton Weary as a third killer, but I still liked what they did with him better in the version we got. They kept in the same vain as the first one, having Cotton be viewed as a killer throughout, and then provide a twist in the end that he is not. I also would have hated it if they killed Dewey so early in the series. Keeping Dewey alive for at least the first four or five films makes more sense. I accept Mrs. Loomis, and Derek/or/Mickey as the two killers. And definitely keep Dewey alive until the fifth one.

Sounds like some of it was recycled for Scream 5 to some degree. I'm one of those freaks who believes things like how Stu is still alive and Patrick Dempsey is his older half brother and they frequently kill people thru out the series. Remember that hospital scene in Scream 5? That was a man in that hospital with the passing of Dewey, not Amber. That's why she lit up when Mindy joked about how she was actually the killer.

One thing you forgot to mention was in original trailer Ghostface instead of saying “it’s showtime”, Ghostface says “it’s TIME GURLFRIEND!” And that’s from the original script. That always makes me laugh!
