Great clip, thanks Simon, I wanted to go to this Festival as I lived nearby in Pahiatua, but our own band ''Glass Veins'' were booked to play in Palmy so I missed it. Love the Meemees ever since I saw their raw, powerful & punchy performance at Main Street Night Club Auckland. Peter's guitar sound kicked ass, all very good musos considering they were not much more than kids back then.

ta for the upload Simon, remember the bottle throwing pretty well and was this the last Brown Trout?? Interesting mix of punters on reflection...lots of house trucks, bikers, few fellas in the nude, workshops of one sort or another. Went to other Trouts at Norsewood and Weber I think...seemed to be a more bluesy focus with the earlier festivals, Ralph Sunny Monday comes to mind. Tickets probably bought from Narnia in Manners St, Wgtn. Think an early version of The Mockers played-Ambitious Vegetables? Wide Mouthed Frogs. A real memory jogger, would be interested to hear of other recollections. Got kicked off the road-literally- by a biker at the Norsewood festival, that seemed quite relaxed compared to the 83 festival.
i worked Brown Trout 80 with The Ambitious Vegetables, we camped nxt to The Crocodiles, The Dudes were headline act, Rough Justice final gig before splitting up, Roger Fox Big Band, 1860 Band, Bad Breaks, Mangawekas, Puppetz, a great festival

@@howardlevarko7414 Yep that was the first one we went to, near Norsewood? Th Dudes pulled out I'm pretty sure, really enjoyable festival like you say...opened up a whole new world of non-pop/rock music for me like Ralph ???, blues fella, put out some tapes which weren't as raw as the live set predictably. I think there were other Trout festivals before 1980...know anything about them?

@@hankmorgan3501 Dudes definetly played, it was their Cerwin Vega touring PA that they brought for the festival, I remember them getting their truck wedged and stuck in a tree so they couldn't set up the pa properly so on the Friday night we all watched The Last waltz on a makeshift screen, best band was Bad Breaks, jazz in the afternoon had everyone up dancing, I have lots of photos, including the stripper...
