This is the golden age of PC gaming. CRT screens, compaq keyboards mouses (with the ball). God I miss these days.

To those that argue that "The scene was very small back in thresh's day", remember that back in the day, everyone played the same game as there wasn't so many different FPS to choose from so even if the scene was smaller, almost everyone played that game rather than now where that is divided up between countless FPS's. Back in the day you had Wolfenstein/Doom then Quake, and that's pretty much it. Sister spin offs like Heretic and Hexxen Thresh also won.

+damiantwins1 Thresh really was in a league of his own back then. Alot of the players nowadays have no knowledge of the impact the guy had and how intelligently he played.
@AcceleratedEvolution9 жыл бұрын
+damiantwins1 the reason a lot of great champion players have become forgotten is esports blew up - and even the champ himself a lot of kids don't know (John Fatal1ty Wendel in other words) - I know that I was well known in endless games for years and now its a rarity to have someone know me without....... google first.

Used to be. There are newer LED screen monitors that caught up with the refresh rates that CRT monitors have. I'm using a Benq XL24010T and it's an amazing monitor and very sharp. If you're looking into getting a new LED monitor for gaming please pay close attention to the refresh rates you want to look for 120hz

lol a little late i posted this 2 years ago but this is what happend. I was a little kid with my parents and went to the movie theaters. Apparently they had some like gaming tournament and next to it was this giant booth with a giant TV screen that said "If you can beat fatal1ty in Quake we will give you $1000" So i played him and they had a commentator commentating it and i had no idea what was happening and he beat me along with several random people like 20 to 0. But he gave me sum free stuff

Not anymore! Now we have 2ms delay 120hz LCD monitors.
@mkygod12 жыл бұрын
For the most part. Only 3D LCD monitors are the exception because they can accept 120hz video input which is needed for 3D. So if you want to play a game at faster than 60fps, get a 3d LCD monitor. However, with LCD 3D TV screens, I am not sure about. Some HDTVs might say 240hz or 480hz, but that is internal refresh rate only, not input refresh rate. It is best to look at the manual (available online in PDF) to see what resolutions and frequencies are supported through the HDMI/PC input.

Hey, most games were played over IRC online. He would tell people to play his "brother" to see if they were worthy to play him... and if they ever beat his brother he refused to play. PGL's and Red Annihilation were Quake not doom, I have no doubt he was great at quake for his time, just in doom there were better but some unfortunate things happened. Most of the good players couldn't play at DMCon'95 cause it was DWANGO only unfortunately. Such as NoSkill, Chunkk.

Annoyingly Thresh considered himself a champion at doom and doom2, when in reality he always avoided the good players. He was good at quake when it first came out though, so that's important I'm sure.

Fatal1ty right now is still a so called "Pro gamer" when there isnt' much "pro game" tournament left in this economic climate. While Thresh is the founder XFIRE.

That guy telling Thresh that he's just a nerd, that is hilarious. Then he went and said that bringing games to console will make games more socially acceptable, instead being a dork and playing games on a computer. He said that right to his face, and you can see a little smile light up on Thresh like, 'this guy is on to me, what do I say now'.

What's weird about this is Thresh had already retired from gaming when this video was made. He never played Quake III competitively. Probably because that game sucked.
