@@LucTaylor - It's greek for "the sea! the sea!" Xenophon's march of the 10,000 recounts the story of how a mercenary army hired by a rebel prince of persia got stranded 3000 miles deep in enemy territory after their prince got killed outside Babylon, then journeyed back to Greece despite everyone trying to do them in. Famously, when they finally get to the sea, they are overjoyed and yell THALASA, THALASA (meaning, "the sea! the sea!"). I er, finally finished reading it yesterday, hence i commented that. The 1980s movie the warriors is a strange adaptation of the book. Currently watching that film.
