Glad to help. As a dad of a dyslexic son, I am very aware one's reading ability and ability to understand and appreciate complex ideas are most definitely NOT the same thing. Best of luck to you and glad I could help.

Great analysis, points are really easy to understand and elaborated on a pretty in-depth level in an amazingly short time (that 40 mins passed in a glimpse of an eye :D )

Thanks a lot, I almost gave up to this poem, then I searched for some help to grasp the images as a last try, and lucky me I found your video, a lighthouse amidst the waves of KZbin to appreciate beauty, thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback. It's one of my favorites, too. If you like Anglo Saxon poetry, give "The Wanderer" a shot.

Why is the seafarer contemplating his friends, family and lords in regard to the norm of social comitatus and tribal bonding of the Anglo-Saxon tribal code?
@Mr.H-Literature3 жыл бұрын
What specific passage leads you to this speculation about the narrator? In regard to social comitatus and the bonds of kin, "The Wanderer" is a much stronger poem. "The Seafarer" is more of a juxtaposition of sea life with life on land before line 64, and then specifically the path to heaven in the remainder.

I have a lot of switches in my music from desperation to God. lol The poem doesn't wrap it up well but the two ideas can go hand in hand, if its the same writer through the whole poem then the writer just failed to keep the theme to the ocean.

It's a fun thing to think about. We'll never get a definitive answer. Before the notion of copyright, indeed, before folks even had the notion to put their names on their writing, almost everything was a retelling of or a building off of something else. I do appreciate how well the poem can work as an allegory for life, though.
