Fun fact The writer of this song wrote this for a movie. They came to him and they said we really like your work would you write a song for a movie called the seal lullaby it was like bet bet bet bet he got to work the very day that they asked he poured his heart and soul in to each Measure he submitted it to them 25 days later he wondered why they haven’t got back to him so he called making sure that it got to them ok. And the executive said oh hey we forgot about that we decided to make kung fu panda instead DreamWorks you fucked up

My band teacher has lived here in a coastal community her whole life and waited for her last year of teaching to play her favorite pieces, all being under an ocean theme. Unfortunately, due to COVID we could not perform it as a band, and the piece we played virtually ended up being a different one, much to everyone’s dismay including the teacher, who regretfully could not perform all the pieces she waited to play. I then came up with the idea to recreate it myself, with my synthesizer‘s beautiful cello program along with the piano accompaniment. I recorded it myself and mentioned it to my chorus teacher who decided to tell the whole band class to help create a video which I later edited that included selfies/pictures from everyone wishing her a happy retirement. The now retired band teacher loved the final product, and being in a small community I‘ve met her a couple times since the close of last year, and she is still just as energetic and happy as she was in our classes. Since then I‘ve adored the piece and gone on to notate the vocal parts for organ (as it‘s my main instrument) and kept the piano part the same for someone to accompany me, with any luck I may be able to perform the duet despite the slim chances.

Me and my 10 person choir are tackling this piece in May; I feel so honored to do it, it’s so beautiful Update: Our concert was tonight (5/4/23), we did really well :) It was my last concert with that choir as I’m graduating, but I still feel honored to have sang this (I’m a tenor)

What an absolutely georgeous piece of music my one of my all time favourite composers of choral music along with Faure, Dan Forrest, Michael Walsh, Herbert Howells and of course Z Randal Stroope. Love the Concert Band version too. Am studying Eric's use of dissonance as I am currently composing a Requiem myself. Will start posting my progress soon on youtube. If it could be half as good as this I would be happy!

I understand that some people watermark their videos. But you have no excuse for your watermark to be animated. It diverts our attention to it when we're trying to read the music we're listening to. Oh, and crappy scans, too.

I don’t care about the logo. What I care about is that this choir kind of missed the mark with this piece in my opinion. This is really meant to be sung with straight tone instead of vibrato that just makes everything sound out of tune. The shimmer of the minor and major 2nds in most Whitacre pieces only comes out when sung with straight tone and near perfect vowels
