I love Dr. Young’s use of a basic No. 2 pencil to point out things. He never smiled. Almost 60 years later Mars still holds many mysteries for us. Very interesting video. Thank you for posting.

Thanks for posting. The intro music is eerily similar to the Twilight Zone...

Great vid for going to Mars. I think we need to take all of learning about space and how to get to it and make a conserted effort to reach for the stars.

To slightly misquote “The Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy”: “It is generally accepted that there is an infinite number of planets in the Universe, not all of which are inhabited. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no difference. So any people you may actually meet from time-to-time are merely the product of a deranged imagination.”

Rovers are cool and all, but I think we need excavators and mining equipment to search for fossilized remains like the Martian amoeba they found in that meteorite in the Arctic!

Ya let's go back to when all the scientists were white men. Science is actually better now. Diversity and competition make the peer review process much more thorough. Plus with the openness and data sharing that comes from modern communication it is far better science. It's not perfect however and has been hijacked by greedy corporations, self serving politicians and warped by sensationalism.

@@scotttod6954 They looked “better seemed more trustworthy” back then owning much to caring about how they looked, e.g. no purple hair and tattoos. You leftists often show your racism with comments like yours; all you see is race. I said not a thing about their race, sex or anything else so unimportant to science. And what you mean by diversity is a plurality of non-white and non-straight people; that’s not diversity where it matters, especially in science, which is diversity of thought.

IMHO: There's no need for that search when you have Lady Gaga at hand. She is as extraterrestrial as anyone can be, just look at her.
