UPDATE!! You guys are so amazing, after only like a day you've already found playable versions and uploaded both the good and bad ending! These should be available on youtube (look them up at your own risk because the bad ending is very graphic) and the discovery has been made that the in-app purchase was actually a fake-out- if you agreed to pay the money, it would tell you that you passed the test and would allow you to give the knight a continue for free. Thank you all so much for your dedication to uncovering this game after all these years, you're all awesome!! :)

Why it was really removed: In 2015, Apple required developers to update their apps to support 64-bit, or else be removed automatically. This caused an extinction-level event and is the reason so many old apps are lost media. One of the old iOS apps I miss the most is Rhythm Spirit.

I personally think it's fascinating that what you remembered the logo being was a key, while the actual logo was a keyhole, a lock. You definitely remembered it being related to a key or keyhole, but ended up with the other part of the key and lock in your memories. I think it's pretty cool subconscious symbolism to remember what could free a trapped, miserable princess from a room instead of what would keep her locked away.

ive literally never even considered the princess's side of the story in all of these games/shows/stories/etc. honestly just in that regard i really love this game because i feel like the princess is always just seen as a "prize" when the knight reaches her. yes, it's disturbing, but it's also just realistic enough to completely change your perspective on this trope.

this is kind-of related, but your comment reminded me of the move Ever After starring Drew Barrymore. It's a live action adaptation of the Cinderella fairytale but a little bit more serious. Spoilers, but towards the end when she is sold off to a creepy man by her evil step-mother, it shows her experience when she had to go live with the man and then how she subsequently fought her way out of the man's house before the prince tried to come and rescue her. I just always liked that she was the one who saved herself and accepted the prince's declaration of love not because he saved her, but because he actually promised he loved her for her true self. Sorry this is so long lol

I always liked the orginal Paper Mario for this reason, as after each chapter you got to briefly play as Peach who was trapped inside of her castle. It wasn't ground breaking and she was still a damsel in distress, but it was cool to see what she was up to all the while.

@spookieolive I kinda had the opposite of that, having been a fan of fantasy even as a child, I always wondered what the damsels had to endure while waiting to be saved. I remember playing with my dolls and panned most of the story in their perspective and occasionally showing the knight on their journey. I’m not sure why I did this as a child, I think it was because I thought there were too many fantasy stories where it was from the heroes perspective and didn’t give much details or attention to the princess’s perspective.

Whats really scary is how easy it is for media to be lost in the internet age. We were told as kids that the internet was going to make sure that knowledge and information would be preserved forever, and it seems like its actually the opposite. If there was a physical copy it would at least have a chance of surviving the decades, but being nearly lost in only 8 years? Thats awful

To share my own "Was that real?" story, I had a memory when I was a kid of watching the Pokémon series, and there was a scene of Ash on a swing with a girl who suddenly turned into some kind of dragon pokémon. I told people about this scene, but nobody ever recalled it, and my searches for it came up empty. I remember I even brought it up to my mom, but she told me I had probably just imagined it, so that was my conclusion. Then in my teen years, I was talking about Pokémon with a friend, and she brought up how Latias shapeshifted as a human girl in one of the movies, and I immediately googled it to find the scene I remembered. I then went straight into my mom's room and basically said "I TOLD YOU SO."

I'm fascinated by "lost media" like this. It's why "Candle Cove" is my favourite creepypasta. The scarcity of information, the stories from people you've never met but vividly remember this thing from your childhood that you thought you might be imagining BUT they remember it slightly differently from you, and having to follow a trail of internet breadcrumbs to even find confirmation of it's existence always makes it seem eerie and unsettling and vaguely forbidden, even if the thing doesn't actually turn out to be disturbing or creepy in and of itself. Plus, it's SO satisfying finally finding that that thing from your childhood was actually real and other people remember it after years of frantically googling to no avail and thinking it was some kind of bizarre fever dream.

I was born in the 80s. That screaming episode of candle cove aired over channels so staticky that no adult could make out anything on the screen. Like the Bernstein bear phenomenon i went my whole life filtering thru people , asking if they remembered that. It didn't horrify me as a child. I'd just like to restate how thoughtful the game actually is. This story is so generic but I often overlooked how _awful_ it would be to be kidnapped and trapped in a tower for a long time. I always thought the "damsel in distress" trope was lazy and sexist, but I never really realized how _horrifying_ it could be. I guess we've been experiencing Mario and Rapunzel for so long we've been desensitized to it, but it was a really clever decision to show "the other side of the story" in this case!
@dyrr836

At least with Mario we're shown that it's not quite as awful as it could be, since Bowser is pretty incompetent and not that malicious. And some games even show Peach is capable of defending herself.

I used to be obsessed with the one fanfiction that I found online as a kid. I thought the plot was really interesting and wished there was more of it. I wound up showing it to a friend many years later, who promptly said "this is 1 for 1 a ripoff of the plot of Anastasia." If I'd known that, I would have consumed the "better content", but up until then, that movie just didn't exist. This fanfiction was the closest thing I had to the full story. Idk where I'm going with this lol. There's something really cool about how the scarcity of media, that exists when your a kid that can't pick and choose what to consume effectively, makes things that an older kid would call "trash" into "treasure"

I'm certainly no expert but I think I've heard that phone games are only certified to be played on certain devices, so as new phones come out older apps are phased out and aren't available in the updated store if they aren't actively updated to work on the new devices. I think I remember reading an article about "the best phone games you can't play anymore" that had an explanation along those lines. With how old smartphones are now, I imagine the majority of all apps might be unavailable by now.

I think that the copious (and pretty uncanny) happy nature of the ending was more of a representation of how the princess feels. While there realistically would be a lot of recovery needed over a long time, mental and physical, right now she feels as if nothing was ever wrong, if only for a second. At the very last hour, she's finally rescued, long after she had given up hope. She's not longer doomed to be r@p3d and wed by a man she doesn't love, and that is more than she had ever hoped for for a bit of time now. While no ending could ever be purely joyful after such a miserable few days of suffering, the princess is momentarily blinded by relief and joy. For the first time in days, she's seen someone who has purely good intentions. For the first time in days, she's felt some form of touch that wasn't meant to hurt her. I can't imagine how euphoric it would be to hug your dear friend after days and days of being physically (and I do imagine verbally and quite likely s3xually as well) abused by strange, foreign men. While it isn't truly a perfect ending, it IS a good ending, and that's more than she would've dared to hope for.

My interpretation as well! People are so weird about happy endings. If the game doesn't have one, they cry about it being unfair to the Woobie of the week and how they deserved a chance, if the game has one, they fish for reasons to say it's actually bad. She's freed, she have a chance to recover, you can even take the change of scenario and lack of bruises as a subtle time skip to when she's well enough to play in the fields carefreely again. Not enough?

YES! I know I'm responding to a year old comment but I 100% agree! I just watched this video and went down a huge rabbit hole, and was shocked to find a large number of people interpret the ending as an illusion, or a sign that the knight is an abuser, or some kind of spiral into despair... Its really interesting to me, because I kind of get it. The contrast between the princess's story and the knights almost makes the knight feel "off" in a way. He's struggling to double-jump and the princess is going through real-world trauma. There's commentary on how the typical gaming audience sees the world only in one side, and the princess only as an object. But there's something also telling about the final scene, where the "hero" and "villain" have this very cheesy video gamey final boss fight with each other, but its in the princess's world. That goofy video game world is still the princess's world too, and its both how we're introduced to her and how we part ways with her in the happy ending. As the title is called "The Other Side of Adventure", I think it shows that the world is both of these, not one or the other. It is both grimdark and silly. and idk, as someone who deals with depression, its kind of a powerful reminder that those days where you feel trapped in a tower don't exclude the possibility that you might feel silly and happy and dance again like you used to. We're not all locked to the bad ending just because it looks like we're at a point of no return. Thats not to say the story is PERFECT imo, you could argue its a bit reductive or tasteless or confusing with some of its themes (using a fake pay-to-win mechanic as a way of gauging investment is an INTERESTING choice), but I 100% think its a bit more complex of a story then just "what if if video game sad and bad" lol

Oh, I am so freaking happy that someone has reviewed "Hope: the other side of the adventure". I kinda screamed once I saw the Princess in the miniature :D. It was one of my favorite games and I downloaded it later once it was taken down trough some shady pages (?). Speaking about the payment in the game... there wasn't one. Actually, that was a joke made by the developers so you would be driven to the bad ending. If you tried to pay there was a message of the devs saying: "we wouldn't make you pay for anything, lol" and then go to the good ending. Which consisted of the Princess hearing the fight trough the door, then silence, and then the Prince would open the door and they would dance and spin in a cheesy way going back to pixel art. I think that the reason it was taken down by Mr. Roboto Studios is that they had a fight with some groups in the Internet and I think the real life of the developers who said that the game was misogynist and an apology to machism because the princess couldn't save herself and was an object to the Prince. I see their point, but that wasn't the intention of the story...
@namity1305

"the game was misoygnist and an apology to machism" Yikes. It's almost like the game is criticizing the damsel in distress trope and how misogynist it is. Some people really have no critical thinking skills, and completely miss the main theme of stories, as you said.

After watching the full play-through of the game that showed all of the endings, the paying for credits part is actually false. My personal "tip of my tongue" story was of a book I read back in elementary school. For years I only remembered it as a kinda weird book about a girl who's brother got shot by his best friend on accident while they were playing with a parent's gun. The main girl was convinced her brother had been murdered and I think almost kills the best friend? Other scenes I remembered were her getting her first period and being disgusted by her brother's embalmed body. I remembered it more for the imagery it created in my head than anything else. After like an hour of feverishly googling variations of "girl's brother gets shot by best friend book" I managed to find the title- The Last Payback by James VanoOsting. Still need to get a new copy, I really wanna reread it.

I've had this game come up to my brain occasionally for years as well, and freaked a little when I saw the thumbnail! And I actually got the good end! Honestly, I don't know how, because I didn't HAVE any money for apps at that age, so maybe there was a little bit of luck? I didn't even know it HAD a bad end tbh. I don't remember the knight section, I assume it's not unlike the bad end but he, y'know, wins instead. But I remember it well when it cuts back to the princess for the last time. The knight, now in 3d, busts into the room she's being held captive in, the two clasp hands and start spinning around joyfully. I think there were some generic heart effects floating around them and the background might have faded into what you expect a 'happily ever after' setting to look like, or maybe just to white. There is not a single bit of narration or dialogue or text after he finds her, and the game abruptly ends. It stuck with me because it was so obvious that after all this time we've spent listening to the princess, the second the knight shows up it turns back into His Story that the game was critiquing, the princess's torment is suddenly never heard from again because it didn't play a part in the Knight's Adventure. Obviously that's how I interpreted it at least, lol. I think if you tried to play it after that, you either had an empty room, or it reverted to one of the princess's models you could make walk around, but no more dialogue would play. Ummm the only thing I can think to add is that the flavor texts describing the knight's adventure were really mean to him lmao. One of them was like 'this is the first time he'd ever gotten his boots dirty' then hard-cut to the princess's torture. Even then I was like, "Jeez, game, I get it already."

My "lost media" is this game I played in elementary on my Windows phone (now broken). I forgot the genre, I always thought of it as horror - but looking back, it wasn't that scary - I just found it scary. It had a bit of action though. I don't remember when it was released, but it still existed around 2017ish. Its graphics/art style were in 3D, not very detailed nor shaded I remember very few characters: Brother (MC), Sister (who gets kidnapped), main bad guy and their lackeys, 2-4 characters (?) the MC had to save. Gameplay mechanics I remember: • Walking, lots of it. • The MC can also choose to equip a stick as a weapon, or not if preferred. • There was a map on the upper left. Remaining details I remember: • The MC had a circular (?) body, brown clothes, and dark hair. • The MC and his sister were definitely kids/children. • The environment was super brown. • The environment was desert-ish and empty. • The map on the upper left had an indicator on where to go next, and the story won't progress until the player goes there. • The MC saves these 2-4 characters, then the sister gets kidnapped (?). • After the sister gets kidnapped, an indicator on the map appears which is the sister's location, and the MC has to go there. • When the MC arrives there, the sister is in a cage, and he frees her. • I don't remember the ending, but it was a pretty short game. I'm still looking for it. 🥲 One of the main reason why I remembered it though is because I was stagnant in my gameplay, choosing not to move (after the sister was kidnapped) because I was too scared to do anything else at the time, then my classmate told me to just do it and follow the indicator at the map - which I did, and it caused me to finish the game.

Also another one where Zeus was at a house party and three of the godesses chuck him out because he's been going out with all of them in a very John Tucker Must Die situation. Now I'm tempted to make a throwaway Reddit account to try to find a few items from my childhood: 1. An animated film about a young girl and her little sister getting transported to a magical realm where they have to defeat an evil queen/witch. If you want me to go further in depth, I'll do so. 2. A book about a young girl who's family moves to a town cursed with an eternal winter. She meets a boy behind a keyhole and has to defeat the snow witch. Meanwhile her older sister is being brainwashed by these girls to act more feminine and go into a tube, I think. The young girl ends up stabbing the witch (not in detail; "The tip of the sword poked into the witch's chest. A thin line of blood trickled down," or something like that). Edit: Ok, so some have asked about the first one. While I did end up making a throwaway Reddit account, I'm gonna explain it here (it's a long one, so buckle up): It started with a family moving into a new house. There was a mom, a dad, an older sister (about 10-ish), and a little sister (toddler age). The parents ask the older sister to look after the toddler, which she bemoans about. She says some pretty mean things to the baby sister, which she cries about and leaves the older sister. The older sister reads a book for a bit before realizing what she was supposed to do in the first place and feels remorse. She finds this little door in the stairs and goes through it, only to find herself in a fantasy world.There she finds a young prince her age, and they go to defeat the villain, an evil witch (I think). The middle is a blank to me, but I do remember the ending. The kids (the baby sister included) face the villain. The baby sister has a jewel and is in front of a hole in the floor, and both sides re trying to tell her what to do. The older sister yells something along the lines of, "Come on! It's like a puzzle! You love puzzles!" (It's established earlier on that baby sister enjoyed puzzles). The baby sister listens to her older sister, and puts the jewel in the hole, defeating the villain. All the furniture turns back into people (which is why I think it was made in the 90's), and everyone is happy. It turns out that the whole journey was a dream the older sister had. The parents aren't mad at her, surprisingly, and tell both of them to play outside. When they go outside, they meet a young boy, who looks like the prince. Roll credits. Edit #2: The movie has been found! It's apparently called Princess Castle. It's available on KZbin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zn-xpI2slNCNe9k Edit 3: The book has been found! It's called Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy.

I've literally spent like 7 years of my life looking for this kinda toca boca styled game the appeal was supposed to be "raise little girl game oou" but it scared the shit out of me for some reason. The girl had black lowtails, simple dot doll eyes, paper white skin and a kinda hello kitty outfit like yellow shirt and red overall dress. There were two places you could play with her in a playground and a house. It was a pretty simple 2d doll game except one time I got in trouble and my mom took my tablet away for a couple days and by time I got it back I had forgotten about the game and left it away for like 3 weeks. I was cleaning my apps one day and saw it and I was like "Oh my friend! I forgot about her!" and I went in, pressed play. She was sleep in the little bed, I tried to drag her out but she was crying, anytime I tried to drag or click on her she would cry louder or kinda scream cry. Her face was super red too and she started shaking the more I clicked on her. Scary movies never bothered me but scary games always get in my skin and I was like 8 trying to figure out why the fuck she was screaming at me, I restarted my tablet and deleted the app and didn't play any of those doll games for like half a year. I'm guessing the game got removed or somethin.

I know that the iPhone's app store has a history of downloaded and purchased games linked to the account logged into the phone, ones that are no longer on the app store too. Even if it's a different app store maybe it will have something similar? As long as you still have access to that account. I'm going to assume that the app functioned similarly to Pou or a Tamagotchi and the little girl was upset she had not been played with or taken care of for too long. Would absolutely terrify any kid tho lmao

I remember playing this game, I definitely remember getting the good ending, though I’m not certain about the details. I feel like you get a pop up that says the knight saves her, and then every time you open the app from then on it’s just the empty room she used to be in. I definitely remember being let down by the ending at the time, though looking back at it I kind of wonder if the point they were trying to get across is that sometimes even a happy ending doesn’t instantly mean all your problems are instantly solved, you can still have lingering trauma for years afterwards, thus the lackluster ending and the fact you as the player are still kinda stuck in that room forever. Idk though, it’s completely possible I’m misremembering all that or that I’m wrong about how to interpret it somehow

Reminds me of that choice you can make after playing detroit:become human where the android in the title screen asks if she can leave and after you open the game again it's just a white void. this game reminds me a bit of "dreaming mary" a similar concept where (spoilers) you start off in a beautiful fantasy pink fairytale land and do some quests for the "animals" and eventually it reveals a darker side, where mary is being abused by her father and sleeps to escape as she can not leave her room. in the end she gets a key from her dream which she wakes up with and is able to run away and leave her room. i think the developer planned to make a sequel but im not sure as i havent kept up with the game. edit: also the animals in her dream represent the various adults in her life who sit by and let the abuse happen (like the maid, a woman at the bar i think? etc) the one who helps her (its been a while since i played) is the uncle character, who i think gives her the key to escape. but again its been like 10 years since i touched the game lol.

Personal lost media is always so odd. You know it's probably not actually lost media, but you can't find it ANYWHERE. For me, it's a videogame I saw in a let's play years ago & haven't found since. The game was 3D & first person. It had a very simplistic, clean art style for it's world design, but the character models were 2d & billboarded (always facing the camera), similar to older versions of Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion. The game started with you in front of a sinkhole, blocking you from exiting the town you're in. There was no way across it. After that, you started making your way through & up the city you were trapped in. Each segment of the game resulted in you climbing higher & higher, via some very simple parkour. You jumped over vents, through windows, through buildings, etc. As you got higher, the color of the city changed, it was always a light color, like pastel green, blues, and purples, but it helped to show you when you made it to the next segment. As for characters, there were two I remember. One who I can only recall the existence of, and that they were sorta your guide through the game. Whenever you met them, it would be on the main path. The other character in this game is what I remember the clearest. As you made your way through the game, you could catch glimpses of them in some seemingly unreachable spot (for example, on a roof). By exploring, you could eventually find your way up there, one I remember in particular was taking a leap of face off one of the building ledges and into a window. When you met them, you could talk to them and ask who they are. They were hidden in every single stage of the game. I believe they wore a hoodie, but can't recall what color or if their face was visible. I also remember an Easter egg where of you walked into a wall somewhere, you'd clip into the building & there'd be the hidden character, who'd tell you that you weren't supposed to be there. The game was scary in an existential way. The city was giant, but there was barely anyone in it, no cars, no bikes, no nothing, and the white gaze obscuring the render distance only added to that vibe. I recall the game was from before 2018, as that's when I began my search, and it was most likely made after 2004. I think it was a PC or app game, simply because it had a very indie vibe & didn't suit a console that well. I've been searching for this game for almost four years now, and I know for a FACT it wasn't a dream, though I could be mixing together two different games in my head. If this even sounds REMOTELY like something you've heard of, PLEASE tell me! I've looked everywhere with no luck.

I dont remember what it was called. But I know exactly what you're talking about and the character in unreachable places wore a green hoodie. DanTDM played it. I'm unsure who else played it but I remember watching a couple different people play. The town was very foggy, and there was no running mechanic. there were only a couple characters at all you could see. It was called something like No Way Out but i dont think that was exactly it.

My Tip Of My Tongue moment was a kids show in a magic school with 3 main characters: a goth witch with purple hair and dress a spider in her hair, an elf boy who kinda looked like Reece from Malcolm in the Middle, and a human boy wearing a big white button up shirt over a t shirt. OH MAN, I have a "tip of my tongue story" and its still unresolved. Its a short film my best friend once sent me (she has since forgotten she sent it). I remember the video being on youtube, the short was a hybrid of live action and animation (it couldve been stop motion or cgi, but not 2D). It starts live action with a guy and a girl eating at a table, one of them asks the other something like "would you be my friend if i had pasta hands?" and wed get a short fantasy scenerio in the animated style with the pasta hands. After confirming that they would still be friends, it goes back to live action, but the character has pasta hands now (neither of them seem to notice) The rest of the short would go on like this with the characters asking questions testing their friendship ('would you be my friend if had hunchback that soundes like bagpipes' was another one) and after every question the characters would gain that quality. They would get more and more excited, asking crazier questions, until the animation completely took over. By the end they were no longer at the table and were seemingly floating in space, the girl then asks "would you still love me if you couldn't hear me, see me, touch me or feel me", the guy excitedly replies yes, but then the girl completely vanishes, leaving him alone in the void. I can't remember the name of this short fot the life of me, all i remember is that i saw it on youtube and the description of the video was something like "two best friends test their deepest desires and yearnings"

Interesting story, I'm guessing there are a lot of cases of unique app store games that have simply vanished (seemingly) forever. I did the art and animation for an app store game at some point, I don't think it was very popular since at one point it suddenly disappeared from the app store and I sort of lost contact with the guy who did all the programming and technical side to it and was in charge of the project. I guess it costs some amount of money to keep these things up and it wasn't worth it for him to do so. I've got a copy of it downloaded on my phone that I transfer from phone to phone but apart from that it's kind of lost to the world. It wasn't as strange of a game as the one mentioned in this video but reminded me of that situation I guess.

I deeply relate to the feeling of trying to find someone from your memory that simply doesn't seem to have ever existed. For me it isnt a game but an anime. It was about some girl and she got sucked into a well because a blond demon guy pulled her in and her childhood friend also got pulled in. She had like orange or brown hair and I remember the clothed really well, a kimono top with like a tan school uniform skirt. And she was a miko (the first episode was very inuyasha rip off and was without a doubt made right around the same time). But she had to find the four spirits who were also conveniently four attractive anime men but were like the white tiger, Phoenix, the turtle thing, and a dragon. And there was a sub plot about the childhood best friend having a missing sister that showed up and was brainwashed into thinking she was the miko but she had dark powers. And the mc interacted a LOT with the main antagonist, he definitely felt like the number one love interest, the others didn't even come close to how heavily favored the blonde demon villain guy one. Also he sometimes wore a mask I think? And the first meeting she got in this cart pulled by a cow and they chatted. And in the first episode she formed a big crater in the ground which confirmed or revealed her miko powers. I swear it isnt a fever dream but I can't find it anywhere. I also think I may have watched it on hulu but I can't say for sure

For me, it was a dos game called simply "Hero" that was one of the first roguelikes. Just a tower that was randomly generated but there was so much depth in character creation and magics. So many different types of magic all with a pokemon-style weak/strong against system and npcs on certain floors, some with quests. It had so much infinite replayability. It was rng based though so you kinda needed to keep playing til you got lucky. My computer broke and I was never able to find it again. I remember it was on some small website and a guy said he made it in his spare time during college of 1999 or something. I still think about that game to this day. First time I heard the word "troglodyte" was in this game but it was the most common monster type. If I could find this game again, I might buy an old computer with windows xp on it just to dedicate the computer as my "hero" computer. A similar game was "castle of the winds 2: lifthrastirs bane" but that game is basically just a demo.

For years my 'tip of my tongue' media was: 'a disturbing low budget British cartoon where every time a different kid gets some horrible comeuppance for minor misbehaviour, and the one I remember most is a girl who pulled an entire 'bogeyman' out of her nose as there was an echoing voice telling her "deeper, deeper, you will find gold", and I also remembered one about the Famous Five getting poisoned and dying?' Recently I got a video in my recommended about CITV's Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids, and it was that. As soon as I saw the clip of the popcorn bucket full of worms tilting towards the screen the memory flooded back.

For me, the game I'm still searching for is one where it's a generic jprg about a mage girl going to school i remember she had pink hair and she was new to town. Her dad owned the store shop and you could buy items there. I specifically remember the school was past a cave and you had to go through it with enemies inside the cave. The artstyle reminded me of Touhou, the characters had one primary colour in their design alongside elements and roles in the team + their personality. The main character was pink, had fire powers and happy go lucky personality. The secondary character has blue as their primary colour, she was the healer and had water powers. I remember getting this game in gamejolt during 2013 or 2014. It was probably an indie game. edit :the game is a sidescrolling rpg too

Not sure I agree with people saying it's depowering. TBH, I think it's arguably EMpowering for actually acknowledging what she'd actually be going through and just how horrible and traumatic these experiences that so many modern fairytale works kinda gloss over really are. These things so often get pretty downplayed or totally ignored both in a lot of "mainstream" fairytale-based media like Disney movies or a lot of video games using the whole kidnapped princess trope and in real life. I mean, just looking at politics and social problems over the last few decades, even just the two decades I've been alive for, it's distressingly apparent just how bad we can be about these things. In a way, making people actually consider them is kinda empowering to the people that may have gone through their own versions of it. Their trauma and suffering is acknowledged and for once treated like that part matters, not just the brave hero and the happily ever after parts, which many never even get, anyway.
@J_Lynn
@J_Lynn 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I think it's kinda crappy to suggest that it's "depowering" because the princess couldn't save herself, tbh. Since... irl there are scenarios that you might not be able to save yourself from. Simply having the courage to get through them is enough, even if you don't do it all by yourself. You'll find you need help in life, whether it's a therapist or a plumber or etc. empowerment shouldn't always mean doing it by yourself. That's a very unrealistic standard. Like, yes, I enjoy strong female characters, but it's not misogynistic if they aren't all that way.

@Indigo Rodent This sort of stuff bothers me. I survived a stalker... while in diapers. And it makes me think, what the hell did you want me to do? How did you expect me to survive those death threats? The cops weren't taking it serious and the fact I survived is probably a miracle. The fact the guy's family still contacts me to tell me it was "just a grave misunderstanding" and "but you have to forgive your family right" makes my skin crawl. It's just another way to victimize us, especially women who survived. Apparently I was supposed to roll out of the womb with an ak-47 and mow down people... Which sickens me. The very thought sickens me. That's not who I am as a person and I celebrate my survival. I am strong and my kindness is not a weakness. Don't mistake it for one. If such advice was good enough to be dispensed by Al Capone, it's good enough for a pipsqueak of a lady like myself... Because I have clearly survived and endured more than these buttercups ever will. We all have.

To share my own, i used to play this history game on my old Samsung iPad. You would start off with one little character and make them a rusty room. Then once you levelled up you could add more characters range from a newborn to an elder. There was a laundry room, kitchen, living room, and a garden. You had to do the laundry and cook them food to keep them happy. There were rooms you would unlock (like a ball room) since it’s some form of history game. But there was one specific room with a broken telescope. I skipped the tutorial on how to fix it and ended up deleting the game. I found it again a few years ago and found out they have taken it off the AppStore but i still cannot remember the name.

this made me think about the idea of "a story has to fit its medium". if you're writing a play, why is it a play? if you're writing a book, why is it a book? since I didn't play this game I cant speak for how GOOD the story is but from a gameplay point, it seems like a major problem was making it a game. a game where you, as the player, literally can't do anything but walk around a small room sounds *so frustrating* and it probably could have worked better in a different medium (like as a short film). or maybe not! idk! much to think about EDIT: I JUST REMEMBERED VISUAL NOVELS EXIST and I think the game could've worked better like that!! preserve the interactive elements without the frustration of no real gameplay

I think the concept has potential as a game! Maybe if they actually intercut it with playable games as the knight character and depending on how quickly you beat the levels then the princess would be in captivity for longer and longer? I'm 47 years old. There was a story that I remembered, and I was talking about it with some people online, and somebody finally came up with the name for it. The story was meant to teach kids how to eat without being rude and without touching their food with their hands. I don't really remember much but I do know that at the start fo the game, a dragon came to the princess at the top of the tower?... Also, the tower was a building type game where you build the basements of the tower. It had a kind of tycoon type feel where each level of the tower would get more expensive and take longer to build. Also there was an elevator on the left of the tower that allows the player to travel down to every floor. Also for some reason, the one floor I remember the most was an egg hatching room....ye thats it. Then one day, I found it on my recommended page on KZbin. I didn't know it was the movie until I clicked on it and fast forward to a scene where the cardiologist had a painting of himself in his office. That's when I found my movie. i’m currently 13 years old, back when i was in around maybe 1st-2nd grade i remember this one otome type-game i played back on a kindle fire tablet, it had a very pinkish theme, the whole plot was something about a wedding?? or planning a wedding i belive, i have no clue if there were other love interests but i can only remember one of them, i can only remember that he had messy brown hair and probably green, grey, blue, or brown eyes. there was also a mechanic in the game where you could dress up your mc, the mechanic was extremely similar to the dress up one from the game Ikemen Vampire along with the artstyle itself. There was also a system where you had to pay with some type of in-game currency which you had to earn or buy somehow to choose ‘romantic’ dialogue to say to a character from what i can remember. there was also a mechanic where you had to come back the next day when your ‘tickets’ [or something] were replenished. from what i can remember the ‘tickets’ were actually wedding invitations/cards and had a pink color scheme. I’ll try looking for it, a bit more and do some deep diving into forums, any help would be highly appreciated! (please don’t let this comment get buried i beg of u)
