The best live vocal harmony left from the old days. I wish them my heartfelt congratulations for their dedication to the music I have loved throughout my years and a very, very happy retirement.

Searchers and Byrds. my favorite '60's groups.

A lot of people think the Searchers were copying the Byrds - in reality, the Byrds were so impressed by the Searchers that they based their sound on them! Don't believe me? Ask Roger McGuinn!

In my opinion ,I'm 75 now but I think they were by far the best group to come out of Liverpool,no disrespect to Frank Allen who if you read his book is a bit full of himself ,but in my opinion it was unforgivable what they did to Tony Jackson who I thought was one of the best of the Searchers, Chris Curtis ought to of examined his own stage presence and skill as a drummer before criticising Tony who went on to die ignominously
@printerman994 ай бұрын
I still prefer the original line up. But I do agree with you. I have been watching some of their videos, especially observing Chris. I been playing drums off n on most of my life. He's ok, but could have been better.

I miss them and the Bee gees so much. The Byrds copied the Searchers style and its strange but on every album they made my favourite tracks were written by them, the best and favourite being "He's got no love", a number 11 or 12 hit in the UK charts in the mid 60s. Enjoy good health and your retirement and I will just keep playing your records forever.😊

Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you Though I know that evening's empire has returned into sand Vanished from my hand Left me blindly here to stand, but still not sleeping My weariness amazes me, I'm branded on my feet I have no one to meet And the ancient empty street's too dead for dreaming Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you Take me on a trip upon your magic swirling ship My senses have been stripped My hands can't feel to grip My toes too numb to step Wait only for my boot heels to be wandering I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade Into my own parade Cast your dancing spell my way, I promise to go under it Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you Though you might hear laughing, spinning, swinging madly across the sun It's not aimed at anyone It's just escaping on the run And but for the sky there are no fences facing And if you hear vague traces of skipping reels of rhyme To your tambourine in time It's just a ragged clown behind I wouldn't pay it any mind It's just a shadow you're seeing that he's chasing Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you And take me disappearing through the smoke rings of my mind Down the foggy ruins of time Far past the frozen leaves The haunted frightened trees Out to the windy beach Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky With one hand waving free Silhouetted by the sea Circled by the circus sands With all memory and fate Driven deep beneath the waves Let me forget about today until tomorrow Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you

yes original is bob Dylan but byrds give that Rickenbacker and give to the song deferent high I like both ways but better the Byrds style ..
@chasleask85333 жыл бұрын
Ha! The Byrds wanted to sound like the Searchers 12 string sound when they started . Used Rickenbackers and were disappointed when they didn't sound like the Burns the Searchers used . Good version.

This is certainly very good and the Searchers sing it better live than the Byrds ever did. Although the Byrds recorded version cannot be beaten. They gave the Searchers credit for their Jangly Rickenbacker Guitar sound, but ironically, the Searchers didn't use Rickenbacker for years but used double tracked six string on many recordings. Burns Guitars of London started making 12 strings, so the Searchers used that for a while. In fact they entered into a deal with Burns to provide them with Lead, Rhythm and Bass guitars.
@malcolmhowe66024 жыл бұрын
The Searchers used the 12 string from When Yiou Walk in the Room in 64 and onwards. Not Rickies, but Burns and later Aria that use the general string arrangement. Rickie us ‘upside down’. High up, low down. Check out What have the done to the rain 64, He’s got no love 65 and so on.. jangled them on album tracks too. Needles was 2 sixes linked for the effect..

You cannot compare The Byrds to the Searchers ! A world class act who's influence was enormous and with a combination of Gene Clark , David Crosby and Roger McGuinn , ( check those names out !! )a vocal blend that the Searchers can only dream of. The Byrds were in the forefront of folk rock, psychedelia and country rock . a huge influence on numerous musicians , the Searchers were a good Uk act of their time and thats it , no more or less , but the Byrds vocal blend was on a different stratosphere.

Impressive what autotune can do to professional musicians voices althoug they are in their 80’ ties. Helps a lot they have been playing their hit songs, two shows a night 200 gigs a year, since 1957. Thats the sound of supertalented musicians reheasing for 64 years in a row. Noone of the halfnaked touring models of today, playing their artificial tech computed muzak, can compete with that, and woulnt be remembered in 5 years from now. .

Hate that electronic pop in the bass drum, it was absent in the old days making the song less harsh.
