Curse wombs are half human half curse spirits. They are caused objects just like sukuna's fingers. Yuji swallowed sukuna's fingers but he suppressed sukuna as a result sukuna can't take over unless yuji wills it. The curse object took over their hosts, mahito the patch face curse inserted the curse wombs into humans as you saw in the previous episode, he didn't make them, he only gave them a host/body
