Gonna throw my money into the ring; I think that the game makes it's own community. So it IS the game's fault that these guys are playing like this, engaging with the game in this way, etc. I have arguments for this: 1) The game itself is an unbalanced mess. Characters will, of course, have better stats if they're transformations, of course, but the kit each character has is what can make or break them. Some have full power charge, some have false courage, some have paralysisis beams (and largely these skills aren't even thoughtfully given to these characters so they have a game plan), while others have afterimage strike, wild sense, unique counters. The devs know the latter are the best tools, and that realistically a good character will have them, after all, Beast Gohan has them, so why do they not tweak these tools to make them less powerful? Or just remove them out entirely because they're too strong, and then focus on variety instead? Regardless of the reason, this creates too big of a gap between characters' power, and this will, undoubtedly, leave room for lazy lame ass players to play lazy lame ass playstyles. 2) The devs don't play at the game's strengths. Once again, variety is the name of the Budokai Series, after all, they've marketed this game showing off the multiple characters and destructive environments that could be explored by the players, yet, when it actually comes down to it, the DP system does no favors to encourage team building, the individual battles enforce usage of meta characters because you don't get punished in anyway by just picking UI Goku everytime and less strong characters don't get any buffs to compensate, maps aren't adjusted so that they can still see comp play (plus most of them have zero destruction when compared to the original Sparking trilogy), the intricate combo system rarely is explored because Super Counters are free and Z Vanishes free-er. Some of these flaws are being mitigated but they're still there, and will stay there it seems, some updates have gone by and Super Counters are still free, still able to do consecutively, Perception still stands as the biggest display of misunderstanding past games' mechanics by making Super Perception and making it be a simple button press, etc. 3) Finally, ranks aren't reset like Xenoverse 2's (which is crazy for me to say, cause XV2 barely does anything right), so you won't ever really need to chase after that rank again. Part of becoming a great martial artist is understanding that a black belt is merely the first step and not the last of them, because once you reach that you understand that you know very little and that drives you to keep going more than ever. To understand that your Z rank would be temporary is to understand that you'll be forever tested, forever pushed past your limits, a concept ingrained into Dragon Ball's physolophy as a series. This would select the players that like playing the game, that love getting better at it and, of course, would love to play ranked, would give the newer players the sense that they can prepare for the next rotation, akin to the feeling of preparing for your first tournament, and it would certainly drive lame players away from the game, and drive bad players to either go back to casual matches or in fact get better. What makes me so angry is that, at the end of the day, Sparking!ZERO is still a great Dragon Ball game, and is one of the best, but seeing how flawed this game is at a structural and fundamental level, it's depressing that S!Z is in fact one of the best. We should be aiming higher than this. As a fanbase we should be asking for more than this! No sugarcoating for the devs, no mercy for the unworthy, respect for our peers and improvement, that's what we need as a community right now. Please spread the word, and make this game better.

I support the idea of the devs being the root problem, but the scum of any and every community will do everything in their power to be as absolutely pathetic and volatile as possible. That cannot be stopped imo. I can only point fingers at Bandai for so long. The people are just making everything so much worse. Far worse than what it has to be. All the problems that ever existed in sparking zero would be absolutely nullified if everyone had honor and integrity. For example.. You will NEVER catch me using MUI Goku/Fusions, stuff to that level in ranked matches. I don't care how they torture me in those trenches. That's a choice I chose to make because I dictate how I play. Not Bandai. At the end of the day, I will do whatever the hell I want and no one can stop me but myself. If those who would abuse the game on a regular had that same mindset and morale, these problems would probably almost never be noticed. No one would complain nearly as much. Bandai, Bandai, Bandai.. Yeah sure. But THE PEOPLE are the ones who are REALLY taking full advantage of everything scummy. Bandai cannot produce perfection, and people are going to be people. Of course, there are flaws in that game that are just completely NOT okay, and people can strive to be better people. *(Please do not misunderstand. I do not disagree with any of what you've said. You said nothing but the truth. I especially appreciated the black belt talk, because as a practicioner of Okinawa Karate, that philosophy of earning the belt and having that be the beginning was instilled within me)*

And, well, I agree, at some point we gotta blame the scummy peeps for being scummy, and we gotta call out the community for being scummy, but I feel like yelling at the mountains won't really do much when the devs have shown at least a little bit of consideration towards the players' wishes. What I'm saying is, as I've said, we gotta aim higher: feedback to the devs on how to fix the game while also calling out cheesers and exploiters. I'm playing this game for fun and honestly coming from someone who understands fighting games Sparking Zero is the easiest game in the world lol. It's not that hard to play, I'm already A5 on a fresh account using Ultimate Gohan it only took me a couple days. The cheesers are beatable. I've ran through the Gogetas and MUI players. I'm on a 22 win streak and I'll probably be S rank by tomorrow this shit is not difficult people just learn to play.
