@@Werollwithbestplus To put the battle of Cannae in perspective, imagine if today, the US military lost 33 million soldiers, dozens of congressmen, and the president all in one battle. There were even accounts of roman soldiers being killed in the battle of Cannae, and were so tightly packed that they were still standing up, even though they were dead. Also, the Apinnies are hardly the Alps. Not hard enough to traverse to cause a meaningful increase in an army's attrition or desertion rates.

Romans are the basic of modern western values and civilization, all american continent countrys to most europeans country (russia included ) have romans influent in their coltures. So hating the romans for what they did more than 2000 years ago is illogic for me , like only 200 years ago from napoleon we started to think ( and not in all countrys ) we are all humans on this planet. For most of history if you were diferent ( not only skin colour even just have a diferent religion , languege or diferent accent was enoght to start a war ) like 120 years ago in europe existed child labour in mines. ( and with child, i mean 10 years old girls and boys , just like in 2023 africa because yes in the most poor country like in the African continent still today exist child labor ) just to explain how even in the most rich continent 120 years ago thinks that today in most rich country we consider inumane was pretty normal.
