Sure but the points he made could've made the arc 10 times better. The author nerfed every character like zantisu, tokimitsu, and other op characters from previous arcs expect the main ones which doesn't make sense since the NEL is used to get them to pro level

It doesn't make sense that some players improve faster than others? What you're talking about is a way different problem (secondary characters not getting enough focus) that the NEL was always going to have a harder time addressing because it's fucking 11v11 and unfortunately you can't focus on Isagi's improvement, the development of characters like Nagi, Reo, Kaiser, Rin, etc. while also focusing on characters who *never actually were all that important anyway.* Or well you could, but expecting someone to pull that off consistently is fucking ridiculous. There are a few characters I think actually got snubbed a bit like Aryu but realistically one or two well-written scenes alone would've fixed that issue. That said I do agree if just a handful of secondary characters got more shine that wasn't sucking up to players like Isagi, Rin, Nagi, etc. the arc as a whole would be a lot cooler, but not necessarily better because it'd divide the focus hardcore. Plus it just kind of wouldn't make sense in certain instances. Even if these players improved why would they ever be a problem for a Rin who improved even more, or an Isagi on par with that? None of these characters got nerfed either. They are at worst as good as they always were, just edged out by their competition because again they aren't that important. And a lot of them weren't actually as skilled as portrayed anyway. Or they were obsolete basically on introduction. What does Zantetsu have that Chigiri doesn't but better? The guy literally needs to be told how to play. I still think these players are good enough to have impact on the game, so if they proceed to do nothing this entire time, I agree it'll suck, but still. I didn't expect much to begin with. I do think the second selection is better. I also think it's a hell of a lot simpler. The reasons it doesn't hit quite as hard has basically nothing to do with the secondary characters but rather why they're written the way they are. This arc reads more like a straight-up Isagi training arc than the other arcs primarily because it has too much shit going on to properly give attention to the other stuff without neglecting the main points. Which sucks because the NEL does have crazy stakes when you aren't one of the best in the series. It tries to touch on that with people like Nanase and Yukimiya but I agree it isn't as satisfying. If we somehow had time to look at the inner workings of the other games and players I think it'd be better.

honestly my only problem with the NEL is the 3 goal system, it sidelines a lot of other character from the spotlight, (cough cough Yukimiya and Zantetsu)

NEL os my fav arc but it has so many problems. Every team besides bastard and pxg hase a max of 3 good players and there are about only 4 players not from BL that are relevant. The pacing is hard to read weekly cuz the short chapters. On the other hand the arc is the first time Isagi really feels like a top player and is acknowledged as such. My problem with the first 3 selections is that Isagi does crazy shit every game and the next game is struggling again. It makes sense he isn't hopelessly below Kaiser like he was with Rin, because this is his time to prove he is world class. You can't gradually have a guy goes from Japan good to World good

i see what you mean but i’d much rather have him develop and get better and better until the pxg game then end up proving he’s the best maybe even losing a game or two in the process against ubers or someone else which could serve as a point of major development and give him the keys to what it takes to becoming a world class player

Isagi isn't Guts, everybody else shouldn't be OP while Isagi struggles throughout the entire story, everyone of the side characters always equal out to Isagi the moment he evolves.

2nd selection and U-20 are defo peak Blue Lock. NEL is good also and introduced goated characters, but I feel like a lot of the players not in Bastard get pushed to the side way more (plot armor d-_-b) Unlike in the 2nd selection where the teams were constantly changing and everyone had a lot of development done. I mean we even got screen time for frauds like Naruhaya and now someone like Kunigami barely gets any😭 (Kunigami lowkey back on the PXG game tho)

I hear what you saying bro but I believe it made sense he was able to use meta vision scary even tho it was his first time. We already know one of isagi gifts is spatial awareness so since he got meta vision just made it completely unfair also other people are starting to get meta vision as well but isagi meta vision looks completely different than everyone else because the puzzle 🧩 pieces and that applies he destroy himself to make himself stronger

Ok to be fair, NEL has larger time gaps between each match which lets him practice way more. And I am not sure but wasn’t the gap in time between the first match with Rin and the second shorter than the Barcha and Manshine match? Also even in the Manshine match, he only beat Kaiser because of Noa, Kuruna and Yukimiya’s help.

Yes, the entire second selection occured over 4-5 days, pretty sure there was a 10 day gap between some NEL games

For me the NEL is a top 3 arc for me. U have the U20 at one, second selection and then this arc. The U-20 was a fight for Bluelocks survival and to make a statement for Japanese football. Second selection is personal survival. Leaning how to fight on your own while still playing “team” football. The NEL is finding japans Hero. It’s creating that striker to lead Japan to victory. And that hero is Isagi which I love it. We see his mindset shift before coming back to bluelock and see him have a uphill battle. He’s on the most talented team in the NEL and he has to find a way to not only survive but thrive. He’s earned skills to improve him overall, gained new weapons and overcome some of his biggest weaknesses. For me we shouldn’t be comparing these arc on who’s better bc the purpose of each arc is different. The Second selection is fighting on your on. The Dawg eat dawg mentality. The NEL is using what you learned from bluelock and effect the world. While also finding the striker for Japan.

The stakes in the nel is a starter position in the u-20 wc, and specifically for isagi and our main cast, starting striker. So it’s high stakes but not elimination stakes for the best.

If there was a 5 goal rule the games would be way faster since chapters are already pretty slow at least for the ubers. The barcha and manshine game were vastly faster but if we had to add the 5 goal rule. Games would feel a lot longer but also Unrewarding. Like would Barou have to score 3-4 goals in that game ? Nagi Reo n Chigiri would score 3 maybe the master striker gets 1 too. For barcha….. i don’t even know who’d score them tbh
