Nice. I'd never thought about this before. You should do some more on weird scales/modes. It's not really something that I even got to hear a lot about even in music college. (also I see you not knowing what to do with the accel in your transcription playback. You use musescore for your transcriptions so if I can offer you some advice, you can download a plugin for accel/rit functions. It's literally just called tempo changes. Also you can make the dotted box at the top of the score invisible in the "view" drop down menu.)

that is actually so helpful, thank you so much lmao. I've been looking for a way to get rid of the evil dotted box forever.. Also yeah for sure! I have a few more weird scales/modes videos lined up in the future (harmonic major, etc.)

lol don't worry, sotn music could be its own video in the future, so many bangers

Nice video! The castle theme from Yoshi's Island uses the same Dorian #4 as SMW moving between Cm and D7, but instead of acting as the IV- and V pointing towards the tonic like in SMW, it kind of just hovers around Cm

Good video. The bvi i chords are used in Imperial March. I'm also pretty sure 12tone made a video where they mentioned this i II chord change briefly.

THERES A LYDIAN DIMINISHED SCALE??
@CadenceHira3 жыл бұрын
Yes! 1-2-b3-#4-5-6-7. I would highly recommend reading George Russell's Lydian Chromatic Concept, I only briefly touched on it in the vid, but there's some crazy stuff in there.

1:35 It does kind of have a "name". The first use of it in western music as far as I know is in Wagner's Nibelungen, and the chord progression is the leitmotif for the Tarnhelm. I call it "The Tarnhelm Motif" or "Tarnhelm Vamp".
