A little tip - I'm using the same technique, but instead of plywood - I use PVC plastic. It's easy to cut, and it to bend. And it can be sanded easily. You still need to add putty to strongen the structure.

I love your work! Fiberglass resin absolutely changes shape when it goes through the chemical process of hardening up. Your "unorthodox" way you do your work is genius!
