THE SECRET BEHIND BRAZIL'S COFFEE
A Van Life Behind The Schenes Tour of a Coffee Farm
Did you know that Brazil is the worlds largest coffee producer? Snow and CUrt did not either! But, after visiting a small coffee farm in the rolling hills of Minas Gerais, They know all of the cool coffee facts! Snow and Curt were the guests of the farm due to a connection they have back in the USA, but they were treated like family from the moment they arrived! They toured to small local towns, visited with local people, tasted great food, and learned a ton of things about coffee! This is a small family owned business that has coffee available in Brazil as well as in the states... in fact, do not forget to check out the websites below to support the family business! This full time travel couple has toured coffee farms in Nicaragua, Guatemala, and El Salvador... but they learned the most from this visit!

All of your travels have been amazing but Brazil has really taken my heart. The variety of landscapes, the beautiful bird life, the variety of foods…. Just a beautiful country! The people you have met along the way have just been so kind and generous in their hospitality. I am sure you have made friends that will last a lifetime in your travels. I never realised how many types of coffee there were so that was great to learn. I am an absolute coffee pot 😂 Already look forward to your next vlog Curt and Snow ❤

Funny story about Brazilian coffee: the oldest coffee shop in Tokyo is called "café Paulista" (カフェーパウリスタ which reads kafee paurisuta). The owner helped Japanese people migrate to Brazil in the early 20th century and, in exchange, the Brazilian government gave him tons of coffee beans from São Paulo.

Brazil producing a lot of coffee is an understatement. It has been the largest producer for the past 200 years. Around the 1920s, it was producing like 80 to 90 percent of all the coffee in the world. Nowadays it's still the largest producer, with 2.6 million tons. Vietnam comes second with 1.6 million and Colombia third with 0.8 million

Many people in the world mistakenly think that in Brazil, in order to have plantations and raise livestock, all nature is destroyed, this is not true. The producers are nature lovers, they preserve much of the soil as native forest, preserve the water sources and treat the land with respect as can be seen in the images. This is the standard. We are not destroyers of nature, quite the contrary, we have rich forests because of the feeling of preservation that exists.. So it is great for people around the world to see what a large part of Brazilian agriculture is really like.

In the early past century there was a big incident between US and Brazil due to a sudden change of price of Brazilian exporters for US parcels and contract breaking which led US a whole year without coffee. After that US invested high in coffee production in other places specially in Colombia to get free of the Brazilian subjection (I don't blame them) and since then as a near religious revenge against Brazil they refuse to recognize Brazilian coffee. They also helped to spread around the world that the best meat and barbecue are from Argentina. Brazilian products was not sabotaged or disqualified, they simply was fallen to oblivion. If there was a thing Brazilian makes good, be sure another Country will take the good fame. But it was another time. Today thanks to internet and people like you we can easily access true information. Thanks a lot!

Fabulous tour guys - & great to know about coffee bean origins, farming & treatments. Local small farms is reassuring. The 20% large company coffee bean farm market slice will hopefully not increase either. Keep em rolling guys ❤💃😊

You should do the "waterfalls and cheese" route in Minas. Visit award-winning cheese producers, most of which are close to many waterfalls. I recommend "Serra da Canastra"

Very good learning in a video view ..if you are not aware, the between Rio de Janeiro / São Paulo...Bairro do Vale do Paraíba , Paraíba is the large long river, where Coffee was the greatest Farming in countries history, from where coming you are in the large coffee farming area. I don’t use coffee, but it certainly is the most consumed drink here...typical breakfast eating costume...reason why breakfast here is called café da manhã...manhã is the called time before noon😉

That was a very nice experience, something you won't get easily doing regular tourism. A very personal experience. The only thing I didn't like (probably a confusion) was the woman saying Brazil was still a colony of Portugal under Dom Pedro II, while his father already declared independence in 1822. smh Dom Pedro II, the only real leader, statesman, Brazil ever had, truly dedicated to the country and the people. Loved by the people, hated by the oligarchs.

She did not say that , she said that when Brasil was colony of portugal . But even today Dom Pedro is very respect in our culture , they lived in Brazil , and still part of the royal family living int the country.

Great video ! Minas Gerais state is known as the land of great cheeses, jams, liqueurs, cheese bread, home made sweets, and all kind of nice treats one would find at grandmother's place. Best breakfast in the world. (Canastra cheese has been chosen the best cheese in the world recently). Beautiful hills, historical colonial towns... Sleepy small towns, but a big vibrant capital. The great thing about Brazil is that one can literally find thousands of beautiful places like that waterfall. And people in the country is super nice, they will get out of their way to help you.

By 1930 coffee represented 50% of Brazil's exports now it's less than 3%. Brazilian economy has diversified a lot since then including airplanes, ships, heavy machinery, cars and so on. However, farm products are still very important: corn, soybean, cotton, meat, chicken, pork, milk, etc, and mining output like iron ore, manganese, lithium, oil & gas, gold, titanium. Cheers!

Thanks for another amazing video Snow and Curt. Lots of helpful info on my favorite beverage. I just ordered a bag of the Jose Gourmet and their special coffee aged in a barrel. Can't wait for them to arrive. To others who may be interested, the shipping rates were quite reasonable (I'm in California), and I was able to purchase whole beans. Wishing you all safe travels and all the best to the coffee growers.
