Albus Dumbledore’s office is quite a spectacle, not only is it his personal area of privacy, but it’s been the office for every single headmaster stretching back as far as the first person to ever hold the position. But is there a secret behind this room at Hogwarts?

Another Gryffindor-related fact about the office that you don’t mention, but which WAS brought to my attention on another channel: the doors to the Headmaster’s office have griffin designs carved into them ...... literally making them Griffin Doors.

In "Philosopher's stone" we come across an underground chamber where Dumbledore hid the stone. I think that one could be Ravenclaw's room.

With all the challeges of magic, wisdom and skill that one has to pass to get into the room, it has to be Ravenclaws office. I know all that was put in to protect the stone, but they could have been following the example of what Rowena had set up when she was alive!

@@joelisacute How do we know? The entrance appearance and the way the basilisk traveled through the pipes suggest that there were bathrooms and the entrance was located in one of such bathrooms. It is feasible that it wasn't the girls bathroom, but it was still a bathroom or a room that had something to do with Hogwart's plumbing.
@BreakThrough51

Maybe his office is now the girls bathroom? It would make sense for the entrance to the chamber to be IN his office. And before he left he could've hidden the entrance as a bathroom. Just a theory.
@PhilBagels
@PhilBagels 4 жыл бұрын
@@drethethinker6418 Plumbing didn't exist at the time. There were no flush toilets or running water. ThunderKat makes a good point: More likely that his office was the room that is now the girl's bathroom, with the Chamber entrance hidden within it. Centuries later, when indoor plumbing was added to the castle, someone said, "Nobody's using this old office room, let's convert it to a girl's bathroom."
@drethethinker6418
@drethethinker6418 4 жыл бұрын
@@PhilBagels except....the pipes. Hermione wrote that on the paper saying that was how the basilisk was traveling. These pipes were connected to the chamber allowing the basilisk to travel. Even the room where the basilisk was housed appeared to be part of hogwarts plumbing with the running water meaning someone would have had to get into the chamber of secrets in order to connect the plumbing and make it so the basilisk could travel through the pipes. Even the Roman's had a very basic plumbing system. Perhaps not flushable toilets but definitely a way to carry waste out of sight and out of mind. The founders could have had a very basic plumbing system.

Each dragon has an elemental afinity, so each dragon's blood are used to different things, but they all work like a transmutational fuel, so they usage are limited only to the intentions of the user. You can use it to create artificial lifeforms like familiars, elementals, golems. Infuse elemental properties into items Making potions that give you temporary elemental protection and boost the affinity of your spells of that element also there once lived a methamorphmagus, dark wizard who used it to change his form into a humanlike dragon with tremendous speed and durability to magic who could even stare into the eyes of a basilisk and i don't know what i am talking about that was all made up.

JCinLapel I actually like that theory. The best of all the students in the school could use it. Perhaps this was her way of rewarding the positive intellectual traits of any student at Hogwarts, regardless of House. She would have known the importance of having a break from all things intellectual in order for it to let the brain process. Perhaps something in the water helped them process the information when they spent time there. Or perhaps it was her personal oasis first, and was passed to students after she died. Or perhaps there is much more to that room yet to be rediscovered. Maybe it is a puzzle and the solution has been long forgotten. (Lots of “perhapses!”) It would be awesome if a student randomly said something in there and amazing things started to show themselves. Good catch on the bird decor.

Helga Hufflepuff said that she wanted to accept all students into Hogwarts, so it makes sense that she would create something that helps all students. Her house was just there to accept the students who weren’t accepted into the other houses instead of being for a select few like the others. She was completely indiscriminate.

Super Astonished - The marauders map is a good place to start. Unfortunately unless they unwittingly found it or mapped out an inconsistency in the stairwell we don't have much to go on besides from what we know by reading the book's. I do imagine that if a student with enough intellect and curiosity (not to mention time on their hands) got a hold of the map they might find themselves asking a similar question such as "are there more secrets to discover then what meets the eye?" And may undoubtedly begin to study the map and all the nooks and crannies of the school. We can't do that ourselves though but like I said not a bad start. 🌟

Room of Requirement didn't show up on the Marauder's map right? Did the chamber of secrets? Mostly likely if Ravenclaw her self enchanted it to keep it hidden you can probably only find it by the same rules she set to guard it. Still any excuse to use the Marauder's Map is a good excuse as there's always mischief to be managed.

Imagine a castle that doesnt have this room or that room as time goes by so does the need. Wisdom would say how can you fool proof the school so that It will always have what you need? The room of requirement. Also think about the wisdom behind it. If u ever needed to find Rowena you could always Immediately find her. Helgas was the main hall where u can eat. She was so open and welcoming, what better place than the cafeteria to eat with everyone.

I was thinking the same thing at first - that the Room of Requirement had been created by Rowena Ravenclaw - but I think that's just because the room has been associated with Rowena thanks to her Diadem being hidden there. But I think Dean's explanation makes a lot more sense. Personally, I've always associated Helga with the Great Hall and the kitchens - especially since I vaguely remember the kitchen itself had some kind of grand presence in the castle. I always figured she would be the one Founder who felt uneasy creating a secret room herself.

I think the theory of Helga creating the room of requirement is an interesting and compelling one. However, while I think it likely that the room and the Headmasters office were created by the two founders you mention, I think it probable that they weren't intended as secret rooms. Neither Godric or Helga were portrayed as suspicious or paranoid the way Salazaar was so I don't really see the necessity in them creating secret lodgings. I think it possible that the room of requirement was no secret when first created but then became gradually neglected then forgotten about after the founders passed on.

She is a truly intelligent lady, and if someone had to find it, they have to think very sharply, yes? she made the staircase moving so that the students would think sharper and it's no question that she would want to make her office's location way more complicated.

Question: How does the Power system work in Harry Potter? I mean, would the same spell done by two different wizards at the same efficiency have a different extent of an effect because one is more powerful than the other? Or would have the exact same affect? Is ones magic possibly stronger than another? Or is it how the spell is done? Please do a vid on this, like legit.
@Moordirocks
@Moordirocks 6 жыл бұрын
I'd say it comes down to talent (amount of latent magical power), time spent training different spells and the individual's affinity for said spell. It's like the Muggle equivalent of, let's say, books smarts (Hermione would still excel in a Muggle school, thanks to her talent, dedication, and love for studying), or athletical ability (Viktor Krum would likely be an athlete of some sort if he was a Muggle). In the Wizarding World, to use Ginny Weasley as an example, she was not considered very strong, being a rather young girl - but she was in reality a powerful witch, being proficient at certain jinxes and hexes, (Reducto, Bat-Bogey Hex) and even able to duel certain Death Eaters during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower. This is probably due to her innate magical talent and affinity for the spells she used, in addition to practising them regularly. This concept could be applied to most wizards. Voldemort and Dumbledore, being the most powerful wizards of their time, were well rounded in their specific aspects (Dark vs "regular" magic) and although they were exceptionally gifted, would have spent countless hours researching and practicing their respective types of magic, in order to become more powerful. When these two fought in the Ministry, they used very creative means of duelling, and is probably the most realistic way for two wizards of great power to fight, seeing as the Killing Curse cannot be blocked by any spell, which should normally be a surefire way to win a duel for a Dark Wizard. Now the reason why an affinity for a certain spell would aid you in your spellcasting is relevant is due to the fact that spells work better if you have a strong intent behind them. Being especially true for the Unforgiveable Curses, I'll use the Cruciatus curse as an example. When Harry tried to use the curse on Bellatrix, it didn't work very well, and Bellatrix told Harry that "he has to mean it". This is also true for the Patronus (you have to channel your happiest memories in order to repel despair), the Sectumsempra spell Harry used on Draco (the note next to the spell in the Half Blood Prince's potion's book said "for enemies" and Harry used it against his enemy). This would even out the playing field somewhat even when fighting wizards stronger than yourself, if you know how to play to your strengths. I'd say that magic doesn't have a "power system" in the sense that someone with greater power would always win, but that creativity, talent, and resolve are important factors. Bellatrix is considered a more powerful witch than Molly Weasley, but she still lost their duel in the Great Hall due to Molly's fierce determination to protect her children, and the loss of Fred strengthened her resolve further, whereas Bellatrix underestimated her opponent and did possibly not fight with full force.

Moordirocks So what determines the winner when Wands connect? In the movies(I've just started reading the books but I assume this happens) Harry "fought" Voldemort by firing the disarming spell at him, while Voldemort used the killing curse against, resulting in the wands connecting. What decides the winner there? Talent? Willpower? Let me put it like this for my own better understanding, two wizards standing next to each fire a reducto at a dummy. They both have the same level of mastery of the spell and they both have a certain "affinity" for it. They both do it at the highest level of intent. There would be no other factor that would make one of theirs have a more drastic affect than the others? Theres isn't a source of magic, like a "magical-core", for lack of better wording , that would enhance the spell to have a stronger potency? And theres a differing extent each individuals "core" can enhance a spell?

Baphiwens ssa I'd always assumed it worked that way, and Voldemorts "core" like you put it could enhance spells to a devasting extent. Thus the statement "Most powerful dark wizard known to magic."
@Moordirocks
@Moordirocks 6 жыл бұрын
It's not currently known what determines the winner when wands connect, as it is such a rare occurrence (the wand cores have to be the "same") but in Harry and Voldemort's case, I'd suspect two important factors. Firstly, when Voldemort cast the killing curse, he didn't expect anything other than Harry's death to happen afterwards, and when it didn't, he got confused. He already tried to kill him once, and when the killing curse failed to kill him yet again, he lost focus. His magical power far outweighs Harrys, being older, more experienced and more of a magical prodigy, but this lack of focus gave Harry the upper hand for a moment. Then, when the Priori Incantatem made Voldemort's previous victims come out of his wand, he seemed scared. He didn't understand how this could happen. This further semented Harry's position. Secondly, Harry posesses a "magic" that Voldemort will never know - and is the most important theme of the books. Love is powerful , love always wins. I could elaborate, but it's best to keep this simple, as the message is quite simple in itself. As to the measure of power between two wizards, one will always be more powerful, or both will be equally powerful. You can compare this to something as banal as muscle strength. In weightlifting, for example, someone born with genetics that will enable them to lift heavier naturally will excel beyond those with equal training. Additionally, someone with years of training in weightlifting will be able to lift heavier than the prodigy for a while - but if the prodigy continue their training they could potentially surpass the veteran weightlifter. I'd suspect magical "strength" works in a similar way. People are born with different potential, and the realisation of this potential through training and studying could increase your strength, whether it be cleaning spells, herbology, potions or powerful hexes and jinxes (or even curses).

I think Rowena created the room of requirement; the room changes based on the needs of the seeker almost similar to the moving staircases. Furthermore, the room of requirement is a remarkable architectural feat and it exhibits a superior level of creativity; creativity is associated with ravenclaw. Moreover, the diadem was hidden in the room of requirement and note how the grey lady refers to the room of requirement in the last movie"if ask you will never know....." The nature of the room is a riddle in its own right , coincidentally entry to the ravenclaw common room is gained by correctly answering a riddle.

I feel like Ravenclaw would have made the room of Requirement, it's a place that you need to be especially cleaver to find, and to use properly; and rewards you for said cleverness. I think it more likely Helga made the kitchen and the great hall, a place where all the houses got together and were welcome. According to Pottermore, she was a master of food charms, and all of her recipes are used to this day.

Awesome video. I personally agree that the headmaster’s office was Gryffindor’s and each founder left behind a room. Although, there’s a theory that the room of requirement was Ravenclaw’s and the Great Hall was Hufflepuff’s; which also makes sense since Helga liked food charms and Harry pieces together that Tom Riddle believed himself the only one clever enough to gain access to the from of requirement so that’s Rowena.

In Deathly Hallows, at the kingcross station, Dumbledore changed his quote to "help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who deserves it". My theory is that Slytherin and Gryffindor houses special rooms/chambers represent the offices of militaristic wizard power in terms of the good/evil spectrum. Gryffindor's office seems to be filled with magical artifacts that help good braves wizards. Slytherins chamber seems to be filled with stuff and concealment magic (mostly the basilisk) that would help a dark wizard. Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw houses seem to represent the political offices of the wizard community in terms of Hufflepuff being socialist/democrat kinda and Ravenclaw being conservative/capitalist kinda I guess. Helena Hufflepuff evenly distributes her availability of her magical office space in Hogwarts castle to all the students. And my theory is that Rowena Ravenclaw makes her office solely available to Ravenclaw students as a secret office filled with important high intellectual documents that only people who are extremely low-key intelligent would know to keep to themselves because quite possibly, the Ravenclaws, being the house of intellect, are just so smart as to never entrust anything they specifically know/ have access to that would be powerful, such as Rowena Ravenclaws office, to anyone but Ravenclaws meaning no access for Gryffindors, Slytherins, or Hufflepuffs, because if you think about it, all 3 of those houses at some point throughout the 7 books allow people from other houses into their special offices/chambers, either, all the time, or to try and manipulate/use someone to come into the chamber, or just to be nice. Regardless, Ravenclaw is the only house smart enough to realize that all the other houses are a danger and misuse/use their objects/places of power all the time. That is my theory of why we will never see and never have seen Ravenclaws office space/ special chamber/area of Hogwarts. Because they are actually too damn smart to allow any volatile Gryffindors/Slytherins/Hufflepuff access 😂

The office was probably a neutral venue for founders to meet, because common rooms are exclusive to members of houses. The sorting hat is a school artifact, since all founders charmed it. The sword of gryffindor was enchanted therefore no witch or wizard could keep it in their possession, which is why it remained within hogwarts unlike the other possessions of the other founders. Founders were likely to have used their common rooms or classrooms as offices.

The Headmaster's study having once belonged to Godric Gyrffindor makes a lot of sense, not only because he was one of the first founders who came up with the sorting hat to help sort students once he and the other founders were dead, but because of the general layout and how you are allowed to enter. As for the Room Of Requirement, I think there is a possibility that it might be Helga Hufflepuff's, but I think it was Rowena Ravenclaw's. Rowena valued wisdom, the person needs to think of where the room is and what they want in order to make it appear and that does take wisdom. In the movie when Harry talks to Helena she tells him "If you have to ask, then you'll never know. If you know, then you need only ask." so the person would have to have the wisdom to think clearly in order to make it appear.

Maybe that was Rowena Ravenclaw’s secret space.
