I never really considered how genius Mick Mars was. He was the band really. With his riffing, any other bass and solid drum beat would work. The guitar is such a versatile instrument. It is why I can't just play drums. Drums are my first instrument, but I can't put down the guitar. I just think guitars are so much more sexy and inspiring, to make me want to drum.

@@KennyAronoffOfficial I had the pleasure of watching you perform only one time with Meloncamp in Glens Falls NY, though the year I am uncertain, '82 maybe? Great show and the drums were forward enough in the mix, which was fantastic for me. Killer guitar riffs make me want to get wild on the drums. For me drums create the motion, like the engine of the song and the guitar is the gasoline. If not for youtube, I would have missed so many great performances. I love the stories about your career. My career path interupted my musical path unfortunately. Now retired, I am finally able to play in bands and record music. I played a show in September for 3 hours. I have to admit, I had a hard time keeping up. 5 fast Hendrix tunes in the mix. Before learning those tunes, I didn't know the energy involved. Constant motion.

@@jamesragsdale8202 I have heard of Mateo.. I saw him I think at the namm show. I wasn't really that impressed with it.. my reason is because I can do everything he can do so it was like I can do that.. That's the thing about guitar Players... its a weird thing.. I like when I saw John 5 live he did some stuff and was. Like what was he doing? What Mateo does I go I know what he's doing. I could do all that so that's the thing. It doesn't inspire me when I can already do something and I feel I do it as well.. like when I saw yngwie I was like what the hell is that that's a whole different thing.. I can do Eddie but in the beginning that was difficult. I'm not putting Mateo down. I'm sure he's great to everybody else. But to me I just go. He's okay. He's good but it's not inspirng to me. Haven't watched yet. But I can tell you the secret is hard work and lots of practice. Not to mention time on stage and in the studio. No shortcuts. Edit: I watched it. John is not only an amazing player, but I think he has a special ability to remember things. I wonder if he has a photographic memory or he just has ear trained and practiced so much that he doesn't have to remember songs, he just hears it in his head and instantly knows how to make it come out of his guitar. Unreal.

Hardly a virtuoso, this is another video of many with this guy playing his repertoire of the same basic riffs written by other people. The only people he impresses are those who don't play guitar. Ask him to improvise something, especially over a backing track. That would expose his lack of musicianship and virtuosity.

What the other guys in Motley Crue are trying to do to Mick Mars is absolutely criminal. What has always driven Crue's success is the guitar riffs and Mick is the guy who wrote ALL OF THEM.

That’s QUEEN, but I think even BRIAN would be impressed with this interpretation 😮 I heard Keith Moon learned a lot from Gene . Brilliant muted solo melody playing there….14:08 ….Holy Moses…lol…Love the way he hammers the notes with his left hand and abrupts the notes with the kill switch like Buckethead and combines it with tonal plec scrapes. And behind the nut too.❤

John has always been one of.my favorite guitarists. Besides being a genuinely warm and friendly guy, he’s just a monster player. I was shaking my head while watching this video and asking myself “How does he do that.” What a treat watching one of my favorite drummers and as well as one of my favorite guitar players together. Saw Kenny drum with the Jim Irsay All Star Band in Chicago about a year and a half ago. He was fantastic.
