Like your videos. You're describing the gravity golf method which I've used my whole golfing life without knowing it had a name.

My practice swings have always been free and easy, but once I got over the ball, I would tense up. My brother used to tell me to hit the ball with my practice swing, but I never could. One day, however, I was determined to hit the ball with my practice swing tempo. I wound up shooting a 76! It takes a lot of concentration to do it for an entire round. I would grip the club lightly, make a few waggles and then pull back on the handle and lag the club head a bit on the way back. Kind of a loosey-goosey tempo. One thing that helped was to breathe out as I started my back swing. It kept the tension out of my arms and shoulders and I had a longer arc and didn't lift the club. My wrist set happened at the top of my swing and this created a lot of lag coming down. I could feel the cracking of the whip at the ball. So hard to put the feelings into words, but try some practice swings with your eyes closed so you can feel the weight of the club head.

This catapult changed my whole game, especially, with the irons. The distance I'm getting now is incredible. Thank you.

Really great video. Fighting to find that magic feeling. When you do feel it, it's a new game. It's what keeps us coming back. Doing it consistently is the challenge. Like everything in golf! Well done and thanks for creating this great content.

This is extremely effective. I hit the ball longer on days I feel relaxed. I had a really fast tennis serve, and I always felt like my arm and wrist were very loose. Relaxed muscles fire quicker. Think about flicking a towel. The more loose you are before the SNAP, the louder it snaps. Great video, bro.

Excellent video, I think the advice about keeping the back to the target at the beginning of the downswing will really help to keep me from coming over the top.

Brilliant one, thank you Ali, this is so me. I am all body, and probably hold the club too tightly. The reason for this is because if I am too loose, i feel I might become too wristy. Thank you, I will give it a go.

Will be trying this for sure. First time out Friday and tried your fast backswing from last weeks video. Hit some of the best drives I've ever hit. Played again yesterday and couldn't hit one to save my life. Thinking about it I was a lot more tense.

Thanks Ali. The relaxing of hands and arms is a good reminder for me to lossen up. Took it to the range this morning, while it didn't improve ky speed much, it has improved my ball strikes and consistencies. Which also equal to faster ball speed and longer flight.

Nice analogy Ali. I know I have hit it well when I feel the downswing initiated from my feet and moving up through the legs, hips and then torso.

I agree that this is very effortless way to generate speed 👍 Most tour players use much more body dominant swing to get control. However most off us amateurs need more speed and wrists whipping action gives easy speed.

I find that holding my backswing at the top allows my body to finish coiling around the centerpoint of the swing. This then causes me to sling the club forward like a whip. I'm no longer hitting the ball with the club; I'm flinging the clubhead with a slingshot.

Like the video, need to try this metod, i usually use too much power in my arms whithout good result..... My speed no so low, poor smash factor maybe, but i think the problem is no fluid club release 🤔

Ali, does having the clubface slightly open, make it easier to start your backswing?

For me, it became a short backswing with better results, still a little inconsistent, when I catch it right, for now, 160 yards with 7Iron...longer clubs is a bit of a challange.

I think a lot of golfers try to muscle through with all the muscles in their arms. Here is seems you’re mostly using your shoulders and core to spin your arms around. Kind of like a sling of a trebuchet. Makes a lot of sense. We need to get golf pros to become engineers. It doesn’t matter how you hit the ball, you transfer energy into the ball. The problem is efficiency

Can I ask what the loft on your 7i is. Even with this method I hit my 7i 150 yrds at the range when pure. I’m using mizuno MP60s. For me to get this feeling I feel like I have to feel as though my body is starting to rotate forward just before the club has reached the top of my back swing. Not sure if I’m doing it correctly.

Great video but can I ask a question? A lot of other reputable instructors seem to say that the upper body should be open at impact such as Doug Johnson and other pro’s to allow the arms to fling through the ball and the inline arms and club happen a couple of feet after impact. As I find it confusing as to which method we should be learning. Your thoughts?
@knoxknoxknox696969

Robert Bernard the average tour players have about 20 degrees open shoulders at impact and hips between 40-45 degrees open

Hi, what is your opinion about stack and tilt . Like you can turn as fast as you want if you don’t hit the ball on the sweet spotoff the club you’re not doing anything. thank you

I think stack and tilt can be very good for some people, as a coach I don't believe one swing fits all.

One of the things that prevents amateur golfers from reaching their full swing speed potential is because they confuse effort/power with velocity. This, unfortunately, results in them swinging with their upper body rather than engaging their inbuilt kinetic chain. This "control" with the upper body actually slows the swing down rather than allowing them to generate maximum velocity by engaging their kinetic chain correctly by firing with their feet, legs, hips and their weight transfer in the correct sequence.

Most golfers just focus too much a hitting the golf ball. No swing thoughts at all.

Complex chain action motion is a preprogram in deep subconscious initiated by a singular intention. Attempting to consciously perform each link in a complex chain action will eventually lead to YIPS. Over riding the subconscious with, "an idea of a swing" is the biggest mistake of golf instruction for improvement of golf swing. It generates constant and repeat $ for the instructors. "Swing your swing, not some idea of a swing... " AP
