I still can’t believe that NASA decided to go to the moon after so many years. I really couldn’t believe my eyes watching Artemis launch on that live stream. I bet you loved watching this moment in person
@WasatchWind
@WasatchWind Жыл бұрын
It wasn't "NASA deciding" it was congress deciding to give them the money. NASA never wanted the Moon program to end, and once they realized it wasn't going to happen, pushed the space shuttle as a new more robust method of getting to space more cheaply. Once an economy in space was established, they imagined, they would return back to the Moon. But the shuttle was not nearly as successful as they wanted. Programs to go back to the Moon were canceled as soon as a new president came into office. Finally however, enough momentum has built up where I doubt the Moon program could be canceled. Too many congress men and women want their jobs program to fly, and keep flying. If NASA got a hundred billion a year, you better believe we would already be on Mars right now. The good news is the cost of space is decreasing substantially, and while the Moon is out of reach for now, there is more activity in Earth orbit than ever before, with a large surge in human spaceflight potentially coming as private space stations come online.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with Doug on this about putting the phone down. You did the correct thing here. This wasn't some random concert or 4th of July fireworks that nobody will care about in the future. This is a good solid piece of history you have now. Also, you aren't just showing it off without context. All these extra things in this video give this particular rocket launch context.

@VoidHugger

Bruh. It obviously is not any sort of reason to go to the moon. It is just a welcome side-effect of going to the moon in modern times. Also, you may be tired of "representation" needing to happen because you're already represented. That's just an assumption, though.
