Palina and Iscan are hinted at being in a romantic relationship and they’re both associated with the water. They probably got together, moved to Galar, and eventually ended up with Nessa as their descendant. She has traits from both of them.

Exactly what I thought right away when I met Palina in the game, pretty sure she put her hand to her mouth in the same way Nessa does. Also her headband is based on Lumineon, a butterfly fish. Nessa inherited Iscan's skin & Palina's height and beauty, which makes for good super model genes.

It's not ridiculous to think that Volo and Cogita are most likely relatives. Cogita's look and fashion are closer to Cynthia, whereas Cynthia shares Volo's interest in myths, as well as his team.

i mean, Volo brings you to Cogita. i think the implication is that Volo is her bastard son or something. all things considered i'd say Cogita is a direct ancestor to Cynthia, but Volo is still part of her family tree, but maybe more in a great-uncle way than a grandfather way. atleast that's the impression i get. i think they wanted stand-ins for cynthia as a rival-like character and cynthia's grandmother as part of the story, but chose not to elaborate on their relationship at all.

I think Adaman and Irida are Barry's ancestors. So picture a male Irida, keep the cold resistance she has and give her Adamans eye color and impatience. This would explain why we never saw a Barry counterpart despite him being the rival more so than the opposite sex character at least.

The closest I can think of for Adaman descendant is Barry, and that’s because of how both seems to care about time. Adaman never wants to waste time pointlessly, and Barry is always in a rush to get things quickly done, and he’s a friend of Dawn/Lucas who are the descendants of Akari/Rei. Not saying Barry is a descendant of Adaman, just that I think he’s the closest to possibly being his descendent. As for Irida, I still think She’s May’s descendent. She looks like her, and looks fashionable, and May is a Pokémon coordinator, and dresses fashionably

Irida says that she and Paulina were training together to take over the role of leader of the Pearl clan, so either they’re related, or it’s a role where a successor is chosen rather than default family. I don’t think she’s really related to Archie for this reason

Even if that was true it doesn't change the fact Irida said her grandfather was the founder, which would mean the Archie ancestor.

@@Cream12345Ice she didn't say her grandfather was the founder. She said the Lustrous Globe belonged to the founder, while Adaman said the other orb belonged to his grandfather. The whole "Irida's father was the founder" point a theory based on Irida and Adaman being parallels in other ways, like two sides of the same coin. With that idea of them being so similar, one got the orb from the clan founder and the other from their grandfather, thus comes the theory that their grandparents were founders of their respective clans. Unless there's dialog in the game I'm missing, its not confirmed to be the case. Adaman's grandfather might not have been the Diamond clan founder and the Pearl clan's founder might not have been Irida's grandfather (or grandmother, for the parallels to continue).

Well if this is the case then all generations before Gen 4 is kind of tool to carefully intesify the building up of storyline - By making the legendary of each region introduced sublime connection and relation.

That's a bit of a stretch though, as other Pokemon, even other legendaries, can fit with those connections too. Heatran, Moltres, Volcanion, Reshiram for diamonds, Lugia, Manaphy, Tapu Fini for pearls. For different angles, Diancie works even better as a diamond connection. And that's just what I can think of on the spot. There's also holes in the original theory, namely why Irida just calls him the founder and the fact Palina was also a candidate to be the clan leader, suggesting that either they are sisters or that the leadership isn't always passed parent to child.

If you look closely inside the diamond and pearl clan stores, you can see some images of someone similar to Alder, as well as some people similar to Archie and Maxie (but in the case of the latter, one appears exclusively in the diamond clan and the other in the pearl

That would be so cool, two sisters, inspired by the same ancestor, one sworn to justice and righteousness in her attempt to make up for her ancestors misdeeds and the other following right down his path. Volo is an interesting villain because his goal is to bring back glory to his people, the ainu, and he feels he can only do this through arceus' power. Cynthia also represents the power of the ainu but isn't corrupted by it, whereas lusamine although not interested in lineage, is corrupted by power, in short, cynthia and lusamine have inherited the exact opposite aspects of their ancestor's personality and story.

Here's one that I think has a pretty decent chance at being true, and that's Professor Laventon being an ancestor of Leon and Hop from Galar. The accent he speaks with seems pretty similar to those of Galar, he has the same enthusiastic attitude towards his job that both Hop, and Leon shared for their own professions, all three have a darker skin tone, and the Galaxy building has a Galarian Weezing as a chimney. I think there's a strong possibility he could be related to them.

That fact that Irida says "I'm told [the globe] once belonged to the founder of the Pearl Clan" vs "my grandfather" I think disproves that she is directly related to Archie and the founder. If it was her grandfather she would have more of a personal connection to it vs having to be told that's where it came from. Also worth noting is that Palina was in the running to become leader of the Pearl Clan so it's possible that Palina is the "rightful heir" to the founder but Irida was chosen over her. Could explain the weird tension between the two if Palina thinks she was cheated out of what should be her role by birthright. Plus Archie also wears a bandana. Side note: I enjoy that Palina's bandana is Finneon themed

So this might be a stretch since it’s never confirmed in-game but it’s very obvious to me that Adaman and Irida are meant to end up together later in life…. Their dynamic just oozes “they’re meant for each other” IMO. So that being said, I think their most likely descendant is Drasna of the Kalos Elite Four who hails from Celestic Town. She mentions that her grandparents would often tell her stories of Dialga and Palkia, who could those grandparents be? Irida and Adaman.

@@Justic_ You do have a point, but also consider that by the time of Sinnoh, the Diamond and Pearl clans are gone. We don't know what happened to them. They very easily could have settled down on a conjoined settlement that became new Celestic Town. Or, depending on how many generations passed, the grandparents Drasna mentions aren't Irida and Adaman, they are the great-grandparents and passed the stories down to their own child (or children) whom then passed them on to Drasna. I do agree with the lack of resemblance, though, but personally I think the resemblance stuff is more of an Easter Egg and references than actually saying they're all ancestors to that exact character.

Nah, irida is the ancestor of May. It's pretty obvious. I did think Adaman was a new ancestor though. However, with a bit more research, I think I discovered that he's actually the ancestor of professor Sycamore from x and y. Body build is the same. Even their personalities are pretty similar. And their hair style too.

Besides, game freak isn't known to be that deep lol. It's pretty clear they are making each ancestor look somewhat alike compared to their descendants. Besides, irida has the same personality as may, albeit a bit more mature. They both have very close similarities. However, the hairstyle is what gives it away. As like with most ancestors and descendants, they share the same hairstyle.

I like the idea of the Cynthia, Lusamine, Volo triple connection, but I feel like it’s more likely that the Cynthia connection was meant as a red herring. Volo definitely has Lusamine’s crazy eyes among what you said haha. Additionally, I’d say that Cogita, with her deep connections to ancient peoples and legendaries, is more intended to be Cynthia’s true ancestor. Just my thoughts! It’s possible that Rei is the ancestor of Dawn and Akari is the ancestor of Lucas. Meaning if the player character is the DPP protagonist, you are meeting your ancestor, unless you subscribe to the idea of you being your own ancestor.

Note 1 - Some characters might not have their decedents known until Gen 9 Note 2 - Irida is Serena and Adaman is Sycamore. Those are their design basis. As for blood relations to Ancient Archie/Maxie we might have to check the original Japanese. Note 3 - The real main reason why the Pearl/Diamond founder easter egg is what it is is because Archie and Maxie are the most well known and violent rivalry in the Pokemon games.

That's honestly fair its also possible for a character to have more then one descendant. A theory I've heard and am now supporting is the possibility that characters like Irida and Adaman could of shacked up at some point and produced a line that would lead to Palmer, frontier brain and father of our gen four rival Berry because that explains the absence of his ancestor, but its also possible for them to be related to Archie and Maxie. After all Legends Arceus is set in the past so many generation could of gone by separating Palmer, Archie and Maxie

I actually believe May’s ancestor is Irida. Mainly because they share very similar look. But also because when she gives you Palkia’s item she talks about wanting to travel and see the world. She does hold some connection to Palina. So it’s possible she eventually wears a headpiece like hers. I also think Adaman is related to the Ice and rock Gym leaders from Sword and Shield

The thing about the Maxie and Archie thing is that they don’t necessarily say that the grandfathers ARE the founders. The orb and the crystal could have changed hands along the way. The Maxie one looks more like Arezu actually, so maybe he founded the Diamond Clan, but eventually before passing away he gave the crystal to his most trusted ally, Adaman’s grandfather who became the new leader of the clan. Would also link Maxie and Mars which just makes you wonder where that family line went wrong considering Arezu was promising, so idk what happened there

I’ve seen literally nobody talk about Kamado and Wikstrom. Kamado has nearly identical armor, the hair and eyes are the same color, and Kamado is a leader and Warrior, and Wikstrom is the descendent of a ruler or leader of some kind.

@@Justic_ it’s completely possible that a a stem of Kamado’s family made it to a place like Kalos or Galar. The entire game is about migration and ancestry after all. They had initially come from Kanto (stated in game) in the first place, so it’s not too crazy to assume a previous migration had happened before. And yes, while Kamado’s armor is reminiscent of samurai armor, it is literally the exact same as Wikstrom’s except black. You can look up the two characters and compare them if you want. I simply feel that cannot be a coincidence. Also, I never stated that Rowan wasn’t the descendant of Kamado. That is clearly the case. I was simply pointing out that he and Wikstrom may share an ancestry.

i think its crazy people seem to think it has to be a 1:1 as if people dont share ancestors. so its not only possible but has to be the case in at least one character being an ancestor to multiple descendants, such as lusamine and cynthia for volo, which makes too much sense. theyre not sisters tho but definitely distantly related people have started to make the may and palina connection but this is the first time ive seen someone use her mother as evidence, which seems obvious in retrospect, because again, its not a 1:1. the 1:1 is really holding us back from seeing similarities

Considering that Iridia says that she and Pallina were being considered for leadership hints that the leaders are an elected position. This would make sense as the game states that the clans were there much earlier than anyone and that Celestica had disappeared ages ago. Adaman’s grandfather would not have been able to establish the clan considering the ruins in the sacred plaza and the temple of sinnoh being very ancient and each depict an image of Dialga and Palkia. The founders may have been ancestors to Maxie and Archie but they most likely don’t have a connection to Adaman or Iridia

I believe Irida is the ancestor of May due to: Her appearance screams May, and she also uses Glaceon; which is a Pokemon May uses in the anime. Furthermore, I think Adaman is the ancestor of Hilbert from black and white. Though that is basically based on appearance and nothing else. Why I say this is because the thought of the admins being the ancestors to protagonists from gen 3 and 5 (right in between of gen 4 btw) would be something really cool.

I've been trying to put my finger on who Melli might be related to and I think it might be Lucian from the Sinnoh elite four or Avery from Sword and Shield. I also thought Clair or Wallace because of the blue hair, but it doesn't feel right since none of them are primarily poison-type trainers.

I think Avery makes a lot of sense. They both have a cocky attitude to them, both try to make the player character lose via sabatoge etc. Honestly you couldake an arguement melli is both Avery's ancestor and the poison girls ancestor and that they share the same one. Melli uses poison types like poison lady, and she also sabatoged like Avery did. And Avery gets the mannerisms and overall appearance from melli. Idk if that makes sense or not but it would be cool

I have a theory that Kamado isn’t just Rowan’s ancestor. I think he’s Cyrus’ ancestor, along with Cyllene. Kamado’s dialogue about saving the world was VERY similar to Cyrus’, and this leads me to believe that Kamado and Cyllene have a relationship, and that Professor Rowan and Cyrus are related.

There are also plenty of parallels between the way diamond and pearl clans act and the way that aqua and magma act. Team aqua and magma both worship kyogre and groudon respectively, denouncing the other’s ideas while diamond and pearl clans worship their idea of “almighty Sinnoh” while denouncing the other’s. The descendeds of paline and iscan would be harder to put together because we know that they are in a relationship. So the future connection probably takes visual cues from both.

Some interesting theories, but a few things to consider that go against them: Just because Volo and Lusamine don't really look enough alike for there to be a guaranteed relation. While both are blonde, they're different shades of blonde with different hairstyles, and given the other differences between characters and their ancestors, hairstyle and being evil aren't really enough of a connection. Maybe a reference, but not an ancestor. As for Irida and Adaman's relationships to Maxie and Archie, much more evidence there. A really good theory. But one point makes it a little more flimsy. When you get to the Cobalt Coastline, Irida mentions that her and Palina were both candidates for clan leader. This means either that both are Maxie's ancestors (one directly and one as the sister, but good luck proving either one. Also would mean May is his distant cousin), or the leadership role isn't parent to child, but whomever is most worthy, meaning Irida could have no relation to the founder or Maxie. And if we're assuming Adaman mirrors this, since that was the basis for the Pearl clan founder being Irida's grandfather, then similarly Adaman's grandfather may not have been the founder or even clan leader. Simply put, the same evidence you use to suggest both of them are grandchildren of the founders and thus ancestors to Archie and Maxie can also be used to disprove the theory. That being said, it is a good overall theory and I'm just thinking there's something we're still missing that might confirm it. Also, as for Palina being May's ancestor, I personally feel its a bit of a stretch, but I also heard the theory before from Birdkeeper Toby. Maybe there's more there than I see. I do see more of a resemblance between Irida and May though, as well as possibly Irida and Serena. The entire game I've been thinking her character looks familiar and comments on other videos have listed both of those options. Overall, though, I think in many cases, these resemblances and similarities are nothing more than references and Easter Eggs, with as little lore impact as Gigantimax Pikachu resembling the original chubby sprite. Maybe even less. They don't all have to be the actual ancestors of the more familiar characters just because they resemble them, it could very easily just be GameFreak having some fun using a common trope. We'll just have to see what they do in future Legends games. If every single one has so many characters that resemble familiar ones but some overlap in time periods, its just for fun.

I do have a theory that the Alder ancestor was the Hisui Hero and the Maxie and Archie were his friends who helped him. But I believed ghetsis cos everything Volo does is what Ghetsis did. I think the Adaman grandfather as the founder of Diamond clan is an understandable jump in logic because its his relative, he's not going to refer to him as "founder." But thats exactly why I think you cannot assume that Irida is related to the founder of the Pearl clan. They make their lines different in this way for a reason. Why wouldn't she refer to the founder as her grandparent, or whatever their relation is. There is also a lot to do with Irida being way less natural a leader than Adaman discussed in the story. This further cements that she is likely not directly descended from the leaders before her. Not to mention that neither of them look like the founder of their clans at all, that makes that whole theory less likely overall. Adaman's grandfather couldve just been a highly ranking member of the diamond clan, not necessarily the founder.

While Maxie and Archie are clearly descended from the founders of the two clans, it might not necessarily be through Adaman and Irida. The theory presented is a bit flawed since it works on the assumption that the title of Clan Leader is hereditary, which from conversations between Palina and Irida might not be so given that both of them were in the running to become the leader of the Pearl clan at some point before the start of the game. An alternate explanation might be that the items they give the player are passed down from one Clan Leader to the next, meaning that while Adaman and Irida's respective grandfathers were not necessarily founders of their respective clans, they came into possession of the items when they assumed the position and thus passed them down to the current ones. This also explains why they look nothing like the founders.

She abused her children emotionally, to point she neglected and abandoned/disowned them and got into the habit of freezing Pokemon against their will. I think it would be a missed opportunity if characters from this game aren’t the ancestors of characters from scarlet and violet. Since they were worked on together, I don’t think it’s an unlikely scenario that Irida, Palina, Adaman or Iscan, (maybe some of the other characters that aren’t clear ancestors already) end up being ancestors to characters we don’t know yet.
