They need a lot water.. Black soil is perfect and morning sun with afternoon shade is also ideal. I don't get it. Sometimes when I have hostas that struggle, I put them in pots and baby them until they recovered and then I transplant them in the garden.

What is the fertilizer that see seems to repel animals? Will this work for rabbits?

It's called Milorganite and it won't work for rabbits. I have tried so many products for rabbits but nothing has worked. The best thing is to cover your plants with chicken wire

@@HostaandLilyGarden I’ve used laundry baskets. They help some but the rabbits seem to be able to chew on the plants. My gardens are quite colorful with the laundry baskets!!

I used those white food coverings😂. I will place them at night remove them in the am. My new neighbor was wondering if that was something new in the garden😂

I’m in 7b, so my hostas can only tolerate very filtered sun or full shade.

Hostas grow in part shade, filtered sun. They can grow in full shade but will be little. They need some sun to grow the best

It depends on your growing zone. My hostas would fry in even morning sun. And my hostas in full shade are glorious.
