I can explain why rule of thirds works its basically we humans see anything vertical and and in centre more than the the ele which are in hozintal direction as we have a blindspot there.

I wish you we're my classmate, or even better, my uni teacher/tutor! I started studying 3D Animation, then switched to Illustration last year, hoping to get this kind of explanations from the tutors and get x20 better with my drawings, especially for backgrounds since I had a hard time with them for a very long time, but instead, all they say is "Draw what you feel, don't follow the rules and just start drawings random doodles". I also wish that all £27k spent in uni could be paid to you instead, I learned more about the process here in 15 minutes (and also managed to do a proper quick background sketch for the first time under 30 minutes) than 3 years and a half in an educational environment!
