Very interesting exercise! Is this really "using the wrist" or is it the shoulder that is rotating? To me it is the bigger shoulder muscle that is rotating the entire upper arm, lower arm, and wrist.

If you use the Western backhand grip and hit the ball closer to your body you will accomplish the same thing.

Thank you for the advice. I’ll be sure to give this a try. What the best way to get the racquet face pointed down before swinging up through contact? Are you using gravity then turning the wrist? I’d like to have a more effortless backhand but mine is forced with too much tension in my shot. Thank you in advance.
