The sequence of weekdays - Saturday through Friday - appears to be either peculiar or completely random. It is then interesting that the same sequence is in vogue around the world. This is one of the rare factors unifying our world cultures and societies. When and where did this tradition begin? Academia or mainstream knowledge sources about in speculation but provide no evidence. Join us to know the origin, antiquity and scientific basis of this peculiar weekday sequence.
About the Author
Nilesh Nilkanth Oak, is the author of When did the Mahabharata War Happen? The Mystery of Arundhati, where he freshly evaluated astronomy observations of Mahabharata text. His work led to validation of 5561 BCE as the year of Mahabharata War while falsifying more than 120 alternate claims. The book was nominated for the Lakatos award; the award is given annually by London School of Economics for a contribution to the philosophy of science. In this second book- The Historic Rama, he decisively falsifies timelines proposed by Dr. P V Vartak (7300 BCE), Shri Pushkar Bhatnagar (5200 BCE), SRS ( 10000 BCE) and M R Yardi ( 1500 BCE) Nilesh researches in astronomy, archeology, anthropology, quantum mechanics, economics, ancient narratives and philosophy.

Agast (Agastya) = August - I used to wonder about this 25 years ago - why do English names have so much commonality with Indian calendar and weekdays. A visit to Konark Temple and the conversations with guides there 15 years ago started giving me conviction that India was the basis for the 7 days of the week and also had a connection with the months.

@@NileshOak Hi Sir, 1.Came across this work (Indus script dictionary) by Ms. Suzanne Redalia that seems to perfectly corroborate the Continuing Hindu civilization Theory and moreover, looks very rational. All major root-words are Sanskrit and in a stroke dismisses the " IVC people were Dravidians driven out by IE Aryans" story. Please could you look into it (if not done as yet by any remote chance) ? Somehow, there does not seem to be much enthusiasm on this work even as the Indian express etc. continues to publish Tony Josph-level Aryan-Dravidian BS as conclusive! 2. Have seen many of your videos on dating Ramayana and MB but very little material on the Vedas seem available. Pls. could you present one on the same? Great presentation. There is one interesting fact about sequence of days. Although solar Calender's, months and years have been modified frequently by many kings in India and West, but the days sequence as originated in India has not changed. Nilesh ji has given examples of Guru-Pushya days. I am learning krishnamurthy system of astrology. (KP). KP follows nakshtra and sub-nakshtras in astrology analysis. In KP we also study the ruling planets of any chart. In the ruling planets first planet is considered to be day-lord. I have seen that for big government leaders or high officials important day is Sunday and important nakshtra is Krittika. For very big leaders sublord of 10th house is Sun or any linked planets. Many leaders with large influence are borne on Sunday or with sublord at 10th being Sun. Like Narendra Modi borne on 17th September 50 was Sunday. Imran Khan on 5th October 1952 on Sunday. Putin 7th October 52, although borne on Tuesday but his birth star is Krittika and Mars is in the sub of Sun. A high government officer borne on 3rd September 1950 was on Sunday on Krittika nakshtra. For KP chart first thing we see when person borne. Based on the day of birth we can make some judgement about the person. Study of chart gives full picture. Therefore, always there is good link of days and nakshtra of the day. This clearly shows the sequence of days as originated in India , remains the same as on now.

After Saptami thi thi Lunar days, he just mentioned that the Lord of the other tithis are repeated. But did not mentioned what are their names. He is fixing the date of Greek astronomers to a particular relay such as 230 BCE, 56 CE etc etc. But when it comes the Indian, he is giving an qualitative statement such as much much older that Greek etc etc. There is no mention of seven days week system in any of our epic or ancient writings. All the recorded incidents of Ancient India mentioned about Teethis only. If Neelesh makes this type of sessions, people will loose trust on earlier sessions. Oh I was waiting for this information for so so long!! I always wondered why the order Somvar, Mangal.... Ravivar If we sort with the avg distance from the earth there is an exception for Venus Shukr. Moon Som(closest), Mars mangal, next should hv been Venus Shukr, Mercury Budh , Jupiter Brihspati, Saturn Shani, and Sun Ravi. There is a video on similar subject 'Its ok to be smart' youtube channel. based on the major celetial bodies visible from earth, and then some mumbo jumbo if how this got jumbled, but is bit convincing. Also in the video its indicated that 7 day week and the sequence travelled from perhaps Mesopotamia to Europe , to India etc. After the Sugriva's Atlas I became a fan of Shri Oak. I wonder what is written in our scriptures. Waiting eagerly for Shri Nilesh Oak to unravel the mystery.

Nilesh Oak is basically an Chemical Engineer. Chemical Engineers teach Chemistry to Engineers and Engineering to Chemists and Politics to both. In this video he just used some Sanskrit Jargon to justify the seven day weekly system of our present calendar. The seven day system is mentioned in only ancient Sumerian texts. There no mention of weekly systen in any of the ancient text of Greeks, Indian or Chinese. In Mahabharata or Ramayana there are references of Tithis of lunar cycle, but not any seven day weekly system.

Regarding the question on why sowmyavaasara refers to Wednesday in our tradition (during sankalpa in routine puja,Homa etc), 'sowmya' means son of soma and hence it's perfectly okay to say sowyavaara for Wednesday. Budha is regarded as son of chandra in Tara (who was wife of brihaspati). I am not aware of the context in which Kalidasa mentioned sowmyavaara for Wednesday.

Sir, I cannot take you seriously. Regarding the number 3438, you say it was used in ancient Bharat because, using 2piR, it gives the circumference of the earth as 21600 nautical miles. But nautical miles only came into use in the 16th century, and in England, so why would ancient Bharat use 3438 to calculate a unit which came into existence thousands of years later? I also found your explanation of 24hours and 30 hours unconvincing.

@@Lovehumanity33 : It is not easy to criticise any finding based on ancient manuscripts. I have studied the weekdays naming in details. There is nothing available in Indian, Greek or Chinese manuscripts about weekdays naming. Not a single incident of Mahabharat or Ramayana bears to name of weekdays. It has only lunar month Tithis. Only in Sumerian civilisation, the seven days week system was mentioned, which was probably copied by Jews. Even Romans had 8 days system before copying it from jews. Indians only had Lunar Tithis. I have studied it for 4-5 years. Even in Surya Sidhant, there is no mention about weekdays naming. The Sumerian names are the same names which we use now a days.
