Hapsburg candidate is honestly quite easily the strongest path, even if you can't core all of Russia like the Romanov path, getting an early war with a Germany that didn't get the boost of the Czech eco so you can get a German puppet is pretty op, because if you can knock them out the Soviets in 39 are a total pushover, and you can usually get into the allies on historical if you really want easy mode.

When you play slavic union, you have to rush all the annex focuses, and when/if the soviets go civil war, then join the war against stalin, because then you can take a lot of the land you need, plus it weakens the sssr which you have to kill right after.
