What do you need in the ultimate Mini GHB? Let's see what I have in mine, based on comments I received on an earlier video. #gethomesafe #gethomebag #survival

I like it, and 2nd the "contractor bag" suggestion. I have also slimmed my GHB way down to just a sling pack about that same size. For a while I was carrying everything including the kitchen sink in a big pack, and as time went on I just kept ditching things to get it lighter and more practical for the situations that I could potentially face based on my personal day to day life instead of just copying others.

Next I will need to re-think this for a winter load out. Probably add some "WarmHands". Gonna do a video on using a Food Ration Heater to head water for coffee while on the walk home.

I like the GHB. Only thing i would include is a large black contractor bag. It can serve as a shelter as well (bivy, tarp etc.). Great video!

he's 2 miles from home, maybe a bag for a pancho...

In the scenario of the video, I was only 2 miles from home. But what if I happened to be 5 miles from home, with challenging terrain or uncertain environment between me and home. A good GHB should have sufficient flexibility to be used in multiple situations.

Good idea. I'd keep hand sanitizer in my bag.

I'm working on a get home bag now, I have 20 items on my list, I've got almost 8 so far. Don't want the get home bag to be too big. I'd keep a Mora 511 knife, Victorinox Spartan, Trauma pak, Flashlight, light sticks, batteries, Gorilla Tape, Bic Lighters, Storm proof matches, hand warmers, dude wipes, hand sanitizer, emergency blanket(s), emergency ponchos, Five Hour Energy shots, food (protein bars), winter hat, emergency drinking water packs, pocket Constitution, bandanas.

You can save a little space by wrapping about 3-4 feet of duct tape around your light and ditching the roll of tape. Xtra socks are a MUST! For winter, I throughly in some long underwear. See my video on Winterizing My GHB.

Ditch the ifak and electronics and it looks good imo. But to each their own!

The idea behind keeping the IFAK is that I have no idea what may be between me and home. Also, my IFAK is pretty good. It contains items that I would hate to leave behind and the weight is negligible.

I get a kick out of people mocking you (or others) for your decisions. There's a line between suggestions band mocking. Always remember Murphy's Law. Keep the iFAC, I might be the one on your path home, injured and in need of aid.

Nicely done. How much do you really need if you are only traveling a few miles? I would add a whistle for signaling and some cash in small denominations. Thanks for sharing.

The reason I chose this bag is it is big enough for what I need, but not too big. It might be too much for just two miles, but this bag will cover a lot of contingencies.

I get your point. In normal circumstances, going 2-3 miles is just a light walk. But the whole point of a GetHomeBag is the presumption that circumstances are not normal. It involves anticipating and assuming that there will be unexpected challenges and then making sure you have what you need to overcome those challenges.

Dude, you're 2 miles from home, a less than a 30-minute walk, that's just too much crap to carry for such a short distance. My get home pouch fits in my pocket and weights a total of 8.75 OZ... LOL

I know.... but it is so much fun to put together an a GHB! Everytime I make one, I start another one. Where I was was 2 miles from home, but this GHB will also work if the distance is 5-10 miles.

Guess it depends on your location, the situation, weather and your health at the time. Good luck walking two miles in a rain storm with a twisted ankle and a case of the flu in 30 min with a mom and children stranded on your route begging for help and acting hysterical. Don't say it will not ever happen, refer to Murphy's Law.

Wait, did he say 2 miles or few miles? Is this a parody video?
@CowboySurvival
@CowboySurvival 9 ай бұрын
Many of the GHB videos talk about needing to travel 50-70 miles to get home. The reality is that over half of America works within a few miles of their home. Most people, on any given day, are only a few miles from home. Yet in a grid down sitch, it is very probable that getting home even 2-5 miles might be a challenge. Impassable roads, police roadblocks, rioters, other people trying to get home who have NO preps with them, gas leaks, fires, etc. Panic effects a small community just as much as a big city. Being prepared is never a parody . . . but I like your sense of humor!
