It was so interesting to hear Melissa talk about how she internalised Proverbs 31, and I agree that it comes down to how it’s taught. It’s always been taught to me as an example of an empowered woman. She managed her household, she had her own enterprises, her husband was respected because of her! Another example of the importance of strong and balanced biblical teaching!

I loved this interview! My only issue is that I feel like men ( mainly African men) don’t always take the initiative with dates nights. Somedays, I just want to be surprised. How do express that without coming off too strong or unappreciative.

I think sitting him down and having a soft voice when speaking. Let him know you appreciate everything he does for you, but if he could surprise you more with date nights. That you would love for him to do that and that it would make you happy. And if he does try but for whatever reason doesn’t succeed, express your appreciation for what he tried to do so he doesn’t feel unmotivated to do it again. I hope this helps.
