That’s exactly how we do it! My daughter plans out our entire summer, weekend by weekend, with me usually trying hard to get enough rest in between trips. We like the two-nighters, as it only take one vacation day, but you can still get in deep, and have the full experience. And we talk a lot about the big things, but never really plan for them, knowing how busy we are. A few short trips executed mean a whole lot more than the big trip that was never started.

I live in Alaska and the main thing that sucks living here is that you only have roughly June through September. I feel super guilty if I'm not getting the most of my trips and it's something I'm fighting to not fret about. Also I just moved here so I've also been watching your vids on hiking solo - it's super stressful! I have a satellite communicator and a list of safer, shorter trips at least. Love the vids btw!

Feeling that guilt for NOT getting out is 100% real and I fully appreciate that. Keep working at those solo trips and before long you'll find yourself heading out the door with no problem. Thanks for tuning into the channel!!

As you know. The snow is stopping us in WA. Im almost 60 and hike alone. I am chomping at the bit to do an over nighter with my dog.

Right!? I have my eyes on the hills but it might be a while. I suppose it’s good though. Hoping to get up to Goat Rocks soon.

Not backpacking, but the last 2 years I put an overnight RV camp on calendar and gave dates to a friend every 2 wks... We actually went 75 to 80 % of the time vs letting spring summer and fall get away from us...agree...get it on calendar 😁
