Was just at the range two days ago and had exactly the same thoughts! Felt like I was putting a lot of effort into my drive but was barely cracking 200 carry/ 230 total. Definitely something to work on next time out.

Not gonna lie, I followed everything this dude said and it worked almost instantly. I have a launch monitor so I followed the numbers to get the feel of what a good swing is. Did that for 2 days straight, no irons, just driver, working to get the appropriate numbers. Went out and played today, and damn I was killing it! Kept the ball in play, pushed it forward around 250 yds😊

This is the second vid I've seen with Mike getting top tier lessons for these exact issues. He's obviously regressed into the same habbits. No dig on Mike, but just proof of how important it is to follow up swing changes with multiple check ins with your coach. Commit to the changes and the practice required to implement them!

So messing around at the range a while back I had the bucket of balls to close to where I was swinging forcing me to to change club path and I had to shallow the club that resulted in a wonderful hit . It mimics what you were doing with the shag bag and I now do it on purpose to remind me of where I need to be .

I went through this when I got a launch monitor. Noticed my spin was so high and it was the reason I couldn't outdrive my friends and why the right slice was so bad. Worked really hard to get the strike under control at about 90mph swing speed. Then got the path under control, by lifting my hands up the plane more than I ever would have thought in the backswing (put the club right on path though when swinging through). Now starting to bring the speed back up to 100+ and seeing good results with launch and spin conditions. It took weeks of work.
@colonelcamp
@colonelcamp Жыл бұрын
The biggest thing you said here is that it took weeks of work. Patience is key and that’s what I’ve always lacked. Sucks that as I start to get older (mid 40s), I’m realizing these things that the younger me could have used to destroy golf balls. Oh well. Never too late!

This is an amazing video. Thx for this guys. That is exactly my problem (I guess for most amateurs). Coming over the top and getting that slice or big fade that just kills distance. For me, the biggest thing that Ryan said was about starting slow. I always try to ingrain a new thing at 100mph and then give up because I don’t see the result I expect. Heading to the range tomorrow to work on this and my goal is to not swing even once at full speed. Like Ryan said, you gotta walk before you run. Thx again!

WoW definitely taking that information into my next practise session. I have the same problem. I have a fast swing speed and ball speed but I do not see the numbers I should. For example my numbers are 112-115 club speed and 158-167 ball and carry is usually 240-260 max with 11-12 deg launch and 2500 spin. I am a big slicer most of the time. I learnt a lot in this video that’s for sure.

You know what’s a crazy realization I just had? When I hit driver at the range, I strike it fairly decent and would be extremely happy if I would hit it like that throughout a whole round. Sadly this isn’t the case. However, I just remember that at the range there is a crate you put the balls in with a hole at the bottom so that it can roll out of in and on to the turf and generally this is somewhere near the rubber tee on the turf Mat which is a few inches apart. I Think sub consciously it fix my swing at the range cuz it prevents me from swinging out to in🤦‍♂️😂. On the course it feels like I’m hitting it exactly the same as I do on the range but low and behold the slice appear and lands in the next fairway. Then the next hole i over correct and pull it left into the tree line. Idk my mind is kinda blown from that never realized until just now.
