Nice. One thing I love about knowing next to nothing about guitar/music theory is that I just keep moving my fingers until something sounds good. It’s also an idea to use as few fingers as possible. Play a chord and start taking fingers off or move one to the ‘wrong’ string to reveal those lovely drone notes. This works especially well with finger style or flat picking. 👍

You think you‘ve seem it all melodically across all those years watching Paul‘s videos - then this happened! Wow! Funnily when I started out I thought E Shape bar chords had to leave the top two strings open therefore I am very familiar with this sound. Just beautiful.

Love these odd intervals. Tonic to the 7th. Or... Tonic to the five, and to the fifth of that (which is a 9), right beside a copy of the 3, or just a semi tone apart. Or.... a pair of notes starting on the 7th of the key jumping to the 5th in the next octave - making it a sharp 5 relative to the bottom note. Or the really crazy flat 9.... And all the while including droning notes. And with my thumb wrapped around the neck to hold that bottom note.... Ok... only the musicians sort-of listen to my playing. As you can tell, I really liked this video and what Sanholo was saying.

Drone notes or tones attracted me to learning the instrument as well or at least we're a big part of enjoying learning how to play. I think from Page to Cantrell or even Travis Meeks I often sought out those "ethereal" tones that went along with such great melodies.
