I really like Gonis and Alveopora. and how they move to the flow of the current. Feeding them imo is important and keeping your P04 a little elevated. Nice video March. Congrats on reaching 10k subs.

Great news that the community responded. My thought was that even though you lost your mother colonies pieces of it should be in your customers tanks. I am sure there are a few that you really want a piece of. Thanks again for the video, I though my gonis died because I didn't feed them enough.

I find them super easy to keep. I frag mine often and share them locally and people always seem to have more success with tank raised ones, some wild colony I had would never open then eventually die off. Always aim for tank farmed ones for greater success.

I honestly think it took them to be domesticated before they started surviving. I remember back in 2004, no one, and, I mean NOONE could keep them alive. Okay, that was an exageration, but, I belive 99% went down with the count. After a while, the odds were moving up the (or down) the scale to a higher survival rate.

I actually would like to say that mine have heavy flow and they love it and they open up bigger than ever it seems like the more flow the bigger it gets I don’t know if they’ve adapted to it overtime but mine has gotten so big it can barely fit in the tank it’s in and this is just over the course of a few months. And the flow on it is blowing everywhere. Are used to have them in low flow and they never got this bank. This is just something I wanted to comment because I believe they can handle flow been watching it for a very long time I had this coral for over a year and since I’ve upped the flow heavily it is gotten twice as big.

Nice video March, It's interesting that you talk about Alveopora and Goniopora as if they were similar. They are, in fact, not closely related at all. Alveopora are in the family Acroporadae, while Goniopora are in the family Poritidae. I get it that they thrive under the same conditions but I wonder if there should be some differences in their ultimate best husbandry. Personally, my Goniopora and my Bernardopora (also in Poritidae ) seem to be more forgiving than my Alveopora. Cheers, Chris

I was told by multiple people on r2r they may take a week-month to settle after moving based on their experience. But i see that when you get new shipments they are open the next day. How man how.

@@Waynerock77 my question is, my calcium is right on right now at 440, but my Alkalinity is low at 6.2, if I dose AFR, will it increase both?
@Waynerock77
@Waynerock77 3 жыл бұрын
@@albertmaya6882 yea it will. I occasionally dose small amounts of 2 part to top off my alk. Once you get everything balanced then figure out dose amount of AFR to keep everything there. It’s a pain to get dialed in because AFR could take a day or two to show because of the alk/bacteria reaction time. Once it’s where you want it AFR keeps my alk and cal and mg as stable as anything I have ever used. So step 1. Get alk and cal where you plan on keeping it with 2 part then 2. AFR to KEEP it there
@albertmaya6882
@albertmaya6882 3 жыл бұрын
@@Waynerock77 I’ve never dosed before, so don’t really want to do 2 part then transition to AFR. I’ve always relied on water changes to get my parameters where they are. With my nano I do weekly water changes, with this bigger system I was thinking of doing 1 monthly water change (about 10% WC)
@Waynerock77
@Waynerock77 3 жыл бұрын
@@albertmaya6882 I used to dose with 2 part then switched to AFR. Sometimes my alk or cal will slowly drop over the course of a month and I have to top up the level with the left over 2 part instead of dosing more AFR. It’s small like alk going from 9 to 8.5, so occasional adjustments need to be made. Mostly 35 ml of AFR daily keeps all 3 at rock solid levels. If you need help getting the AFR dosages correct at first check out reef2reef. Great tips to get the starting dosage correct and how to adjust to get the sweet spot. The way the calcium fromide works and the delay in alk can be frustrating till you get it dialed in. Good luck it’s worth it. If I could post a picture of my tank you would see how well it works
